On New Year's morning, Cousin took a weary-eyed walk... ‘HomeSoon’ he thought, whilst cutting to the path by the Angophora Forest. As he made it down to the overgrown sidewalk, he caught a sudden sense of warmth from the surrounding flora. On closer focus, it was as if the plants and flowers had come alive...pulsing forward down the path as they bounced, smiled, and sneered all around him. Against logic, he was struck by an almost Garsonian desire to communicate with them.

This feeling lingered, persisting through several studio sessions. The music written over this period makes up this EP. How directly this experience informed the music is hard to say. What effect it had on the surrounding plant life is even harder to tell… we do hope, however, through listening to it, you’re a little more tuned in to them.

Kuba Sojka’s ‘Before Life’ EP on Rekids Special Projects (RSPX) starts with 'Fundamental Structures', a superb blend of futuristic moods, warped bass, and precision drums with spiritually minded melodies swirling around its lurching groove. 'Imago' is then a lithe, colourful cut with bubbling low ends and tripped-out synth motifs next to organic percussion, making for a beautiful mental excursion that journeys into deep space before 'Metamorphis' explores ambient-laced drum & bass. Closing out Sojka’s ‘Before Life’ EP is the superb 'Void of Self' completing this varied EP with an elastic deep house groove topped with dry hits and
sugar synth work.

Kuba Sojka is a live performer, musician, and producer who draws on funk, jazz, and soul sounds. He brings an experimental edge to his music and has explored IDM, electro, future jazz, and acid under his Kuba Sojka and Psi-Acoustic projects. He has landed on labels like Mathematics, Matrix Records, International Day Off Records, and Radio Slave’s RSPX, on which he released his ‘Life’ EP in April 2024, which won support from Ben Sims, Carista, Laurent Garnier, and Elisa Bee.

Amaeo proudly presents its third compilation, To Be Discovered, featuring nine diverse tracks from a mix of both new and familiar faces. This compilation showcases a wide range of styles, making it a versatile addition to any DJ set.

The compilation kicks off with 'Much Future No Present', a collaboration between Greek producers Mangata Projekt and Filippos. With its groovy beat, plucky melody, and spheric pads, it’s a dance floor-ready track that sets the tone for what's to come. Swiss artist Manuel Moreno follows with 'Papillon Sur La Colline', a dreamy and romantic piece, perfect for those moments when you close your eyes and drift away on the dance floor.

Hrag Mikkel, a producer and bassist from Beirut, delivers 'Memory Lane', a track with organic drum elements and sharp synth stabs that are sure to get you moving. Özgür Can offers 'Feel It', a masterfully crafted breakbeat track with a groovy bass line and intriguing sound design, asking the listener, "Do you feel it?“

Finally, Aphasia wraps up the compilation with 'Melted Jungle', a track filled with vocal chops, cinematic drums, and glitchy elements, adding a unique, rhythmic pulse to the collection.

Jazz-o-Tech is a label that draws on the rich heritage of two of the most visionary and experimental genes in music: jazz and techno. Taking inspiration from the freeform creative nature of those two musical worlds, artists on the label mix tradition with modernity, improvisation with experimentation, and create a new sound known as techno-jazz. Modern music needs to be ambitious. It must aim to deliver a musical message which is one step beyond what has already been heard. It must take you on a new musical journey into unknown dimensions and emotions. That is the Jazz-o-Tech mission.

Mix #037 comes from magnificent California based DJ and producer, Memory Clap Acid.

Hailing from the late 90’s Northern California Rave & Post Hardcore scene. Then later the experimental dance music scene of the Bay Area.  Aldo Giovanni’s involvement in fucked up & sideways electronic music started at the young age of 14 with his obsession of releases by labels DHR, Mille Plateaux, Nothing, & Rephlex. Having then turned the family Compaq Presario PC into his makeshift workstation shortly after digesting all this music. He then found a new interest in Acid House & Techno after attending his 1st Wearhouse party in Oakland Ca, where he witnessed DJ Bone & DJ Dan playing on 3 turntables. Fast forward 22 years later and he’s still making trax reminiscent of that time only a little slower & sludgier with his Memory Clap Acid project.

With releases on Marshall Applewhite’s Junted label out of Detroit & forthcoming releases on Glasgow’s Clan Destine & L.A.’s The Black Lodge.
