With "Diving to the Depths" SUNDL gives a first glimpse into his upcoming new album: after two first solo-releases on cassette – logically following Christian Sundl's long-cherished "passion" as the operator of the tape label WSMTML (60 releases since 2008!) and to a certain extent "Cousteau" of the Vienna-Underground, SUNDL now proves to be a shapeshifter with "3” – both in terms of sound and format. With his first vinyl release, he leads us back into light-shunning and foggy terrain along the River Styx, and for the present single release he once again makes use of his penchant for offbeat surrealism: with lyrics woven from poetic invocations by the French poet Alice Paalen Rohan. For the video for "Diving to the Depths" Sundl uses various techniques such as split screen, found footage material and still images. Also, the video features Lina Gärtner, who also lends her voice to the song - known as the guitarist and singer of Just Friends and Lovers and Lonesome Hot Dudes. --> https://youtu.be/ZtFgTSog9d4

Since 2016, One Instrument releases annual compilations of compositions created by different artists. “Year 2022” is the 7th annual Various Artists release.
This yearly celebration is a good moment to remember the concept and background of the label and how it started.

In 2016, Grand River aka Aimée Portioli kicked off One Instrument the record label where she releases sound experiments from different artists composing pieces by using only one instrument, challenging and limiting each of the artists in producing a composition by using only this one instrument of their choice.

She shares that One Instrument started as a need for herself. She had a Korg MS-20 (the 1978 version) in her studio which she borrowed from a friend for quite a while. At the same time, she was finding herself switching too quickly from one instrument to another while composing. That’s when she decided to stick with one instrument for a whole composition and choose the MS-20 to do that. For the musician, it was extremely helpful to put some limits on the composition process and at the same time discovering that the instruments itself deserve to be explored and studied with more time and patience.

Besides the yearly compilations the label has released 16 physical and digital releases among which we can find the albums of Donato Dozzy, Felicity Mangan, Rezo Glonti, Daniele Di Gregorio, Bandhagens Musikförening, Darwin Grosse, Neel and many others.
