"Scuttlebutt" is my third in a series of groove-based pieces for intermediate and developing percussion ensembles. It follows "Technology" and "Stormbreak," both of which rely on similar basic limited instrumentations, 8 players, and syncopated, repetitive patterns to which younger ensembles effectively relate. My arrangement of "Laputa" by Joe Hisaishi for percussion ensemble. This is from Hayao Miyzaki's "Castle in the Sky". This is a difficult arrangement that requires the majority of the players to use four mallets. The audio track was edited by Han Peter Mentjox, an amazing composer, mentor figure, and one of my friends. Please check out his music as well!
