Son d’Etroit boss Boran Ece reveals label’s second release ‘Reprise’, backed by a remix from Mihai Popoviciu. Following the label’s first release, founder Boran Ece returns to Son d’Etroit with the imprint’s second offering this December. First drop ‘Relance’ set the tone for the label, featuring in Spotify’s Lo-Fi House playlist, picking up support from John Digweed, Alexi Delano and Guy J, and selling out on vinyl within a few weeks. Mihai Popoviciu’s slick take on the track introduces a skipping, snaking groove guided by swinging percussion, resonant stabs and tripped out vocal snippets. 'A growing name within paired back house music, Son d’Étroit boss Boran Ece is steadily crafting his own sound palette fusing a wealth of wide-reaching influences. Having launched the main label in early 2021, welcoming the likes of Hannes Bieger and Mihai Popoviciu as remixers, he now launches a new project focused solely on his own original material. Set to release a new EP every six weeks, the Basel-based DJ and producer unveils SDE Digital, with the inaugural EP landing to close July as he delivers three new productions across his ‘Woodward Avenue’ EP.

Opener ‘Post Soul’ is a vocal-led slice of resonant house guided by dubby stabs and crisp percussion, while ‘Jazz Club’ fuses rich keys with hazy chords, low-slung bass, and further soulful vocal work. To close the show, ‘Riverwalk’ journeys even deeper as shadowy pads, crisp drums, and echoed samples take things firmly into after-hours territories.

Swiss producer Boran Ece inaugurates his new Son d’Étroit label with an inviting deep house cut including a remix from Bedrock artist Hannes Bieger.

Boran Ece was born in the same decade as house music. However, Boran’s story is not a commercially driven one about a young artist who experimented with musical instruments from an early age. It is also not about a young raver who spent his summer holidays on Ibiza, and later made it onto the most famous stages of the world. The essence of his life story is not just linked to events – it is an emerging legacy of the history of art. Boran finds inspiration throughout the depths of the electronic music world and is able to share his art in the furthest corners of the globe like Amsterdam, Berlin and Istanbul, and on labels like Lemon Juice Records. ‘Relance’ now sees him launch his Son d’Étroit imprint as a platform for his original material which includes a remix from Berlin-based engineer Hannes Bieger who has releases on Tronic, Poker Flat, Bedrock and Fryhide.
