Hasvat Informant - June 2023 Mix

With this mix, I’ve tried to captured the sounds that really founded my interest in dance music. I draw a lot of inspiration from the Copenhagen Techno scene and I’m lucky enough to have been mentored by Repro and Adam Askov, and it felt really full circle to play a lot of their music, along with some classics from Schacke and Sugar. I also combined this with some of my newer interests, taking inspiration from UK sounds like Overmono and Joy Orbison. I really tried to focus on building the energy and tension throughout the mix.

Introducing “Impromptu”: a mix series born out of recent time constraints. Amidst the demands of my Masters degree, planning and preparation for mixes (even playing gigs) has taken a back seat. 

Thus, to remain active, my only option is to record an impromptu mix as and when possible. I’m confident that each mix will be directly representative of my mood at the time the mix is being recorded, giving a unique, spontaneous, and organic feel to each edition.

With this series, I’m hoping to rediscover forgotten tracks in my catalogue to curate something new and potentially different from previous mixes.

No prep, no retakes, no perfectionism.

Impromptu [001]

Mercalli Invite’s 002 is now on Soundcloud featuring our own Martone this month. 

Martone's musical odyssey began with the soulful tunes of NYC's Smooth Jazz CD 101.9, the mesmerizing beats of the original Sonic The Hedgehog Soundtrack, and the vibrant sounds of the 80s on Grand Theft Auto Vice City's playlist. His sonic explorations expanded when he stumbled upon Limewire, sparking a lifelong love affair with eclectic genres ranging from 1970s jazz fusion to punk rock and early 90s west-coast rap.

Embarking on his production journey in the late 2010s, Martone crafted his music using a blend of hardware and digital tools. His distinctive sound weaves together futuristic allure and timeless resonance, incorporating adrenaline-fueled basslines, ethereal chords, tribal percussion, and original field recordings. As a DJ, Martone's palette spans techno, dub, acid, and breakbeat elements, creating dynamic and
immersive sets.

In recent years, Martone has made waves with releases on esteemed labels like Haunting Vision, 52 Weeks, and Modular HTX.
