Sincere and warm, the dreamy folk-pop of Julia Logan finds her beauty in small moments of human longing—to connect, to love, to understand. With a voice at once both comforting and piercing she seems to be calling for simpler, slower, and more forgiving times in a world that seems to be careening out of order. Growing up on a small Swedish island outside of Stockholm, she got her start singing in a local church choir. After spending a few of her teenage years in southern California, where her mother’s from, she learned the guitar from a local hippie and started writing. 

Teaming up again with her producer and co-writer Daniel Bengtson (First Aid Kit, M Ward, James Yorkston), Julia’s music explores themes of personal fears and changes, isolation, loss, getting older, hope, and finding your place in the world.

“I wrote Top of the World with my producer Daniel Bengtson in his studio. It came from a conversation we had and a piano melody which grew into a song. The song deals with personal changes and fears, depression, getting older, and navigating societal expectations. We recorded the demo with only piano and a guitar and wanted to keep that sparseness in the final version and not overload it with production. I think we captured the sonic mood we we’re going for — and I think the song is a good introduction to my next chapter for the new album.” - Julia Logan

Ghosts was recorded live with minimal overdubs in late February 2025 at Test Tube Audio in Austin, TX.

Kevin Butler (Black Books, Reddening West) engineered and produced all five songs on Ghosts.

The award-winning artist Billie Buck (Austin Chronicle) designed the album artwork based on the concept behind the songs: an inability to escape the past or make sense of the present.

Aaron Winston (vocals, guitar) trades call-and-response with Dylan Hill’s (Mamalarkey) hazy leads, anchored by Justin Winslow’s melodic bass and Wes Armstrong’s (Half Dream) brush-kit groove.

After playing together since 2021, the quartet has developed a unique sound that’s grounded in imagistic lyrics and gritty guitars.
