Quelque part entre synthrock et coldwave, les Merci Beaucoup font onduler les corps et contribuent à la moiteur des pistes de danse. C’est un peu comme si LCD remixait The Cure ou que Nico des Velvet posait sa voix grave sur une compo de New Order. A coup de beats sautillants, de riffs langoureux, de nappes de synthés lancinantes, leur deux voix s’entremêlent ou s’entrechoquent pour un résultat naïvement brutal. Elle, explosive, sensuelle, et lui, presque distant : à l’image de leur musique à double tranchant, ce duo fille/garçon vous enivrera. Avec leur deuxième EP, judicieusement nommé Cache-Cache, Merci Beaucoup révèle un peu plus son côté sombre, dévoilé à travers un premier clip hallucinatoire fait d’images d’archive abracadabrantes. Impétueux et absurdes, Merci Beaucoup se situe par là, toujours à l’avant-poste. Pas de doute, Sexy Million Sobs sera le tube de l’été pour ceux qui préfèrent rester à l’ombre.
