Akito is the nodal point of east London’s club scene, the link through which many friend- ships and collaborations have been patterned. It makes sense, then, that his debut album Gone Again hits so many familiar vibes and moods for any listener plugged into London’s outsider party cycle.

The tracks move from grimey saw waves to floating mesospheres, from broken 2-step rhythms into hard percussion and dancehall, without ever feeling misplaced or forced, a perfect representation of a living interaction of influences. Spirals and sequences, escalating dizzily upwards and brutally crashing back down on Tuesday: Gone Again is an incredibly honest statement.

A catalogue of experiences and intensities is carved into these tracks. It’s a story of staving off the comedown and stopping by the 24 hour off-licence on the way to the next place, rolling over into day two, wondering if it’s too late to ever reset the imbalance of a few years of extremes. But it also holds out the mad thrill of being able to reach and sustain those levels, of making it to the next city for another night, or cloud-watching on a long-haul plane deeply enough to forget that the escape is only going to be short-lived.

Every time a moment of angst is released into the album, whether through a distorted, punishing tom or an unsettled, homeless melody, a burst of optimism recuperates it. Whenever you think you might have given a bit too much away, or you get hit by a paranoid fear that you’ve been misunderstood in a new place or relationship, another synth-line breathes some energy back into you. A fresh connection, another friendly face, more nights on the carry-on. Back soon but always Gone Again.

INDIVIDUAL DROPS by ICE_EYES is a cold-blooded showcase of dynamic sound organization, where sputtering shreds of sound cluster into larger scale rhythm units, before shattering into new formations once again. Sounds here are sliced, combed, atomized and always performing new acrobatics around the indeterminate no man's land of the rhythm-pitch transition zone, yet somehow never straying too far from advanced dancefloor-ready syncopations. 
The tonal medium of these broken rhythmic arrangements immediately suggests something trembling with cutting edge technological infrastructure, where harmonically dense pads evoke a long forgotten IDM cgi landscape, where hybridized sounds rattle through an elaborate piping system. Warbled mumblings remind us this music is still situated in the realm of the human, but one where every transmission first passes through a chain of paranoia, interception, re-encodings and subversive content barricades. 
The album is finished off with each track rearranged once again by a handful of masterful remixers.

“In seeking of new challenges, our latest work Individual Drops, is focusing on new evolving sonic material from a more microscopic point of view, by integrating more obvious granular synthesis ideas. The purpose is to create a new formula that works both in sculpting sound design, and the same time respects our dystopian orientation as an archetype. At this point, we engage more intensive, ever changing, faintly anorgasmic, sonic motifs, that work as a guidebook to an overall fragmented picture. 
Arcadia, as an art form that can be used as a metaphor of utopia, is always present at the background of that image, holding all parts together, like an anchor in a turbulent sea, resembling the Argo floating on these angry waters. Space or Khoros is a variable of time balancing from small to large places, but not in an paternal way. Granular synthesis at its core, forming each sound in a discrete way, like a drop of rain falling in a pit of clear water.”

London label @nervoushorizon may be rooted in the capital, but that's never prevented it from showcasing artists, genres and trends from around the world. 

For its latest V/A outing, Nervous Horizon has enlisted new label friends such as @objectblue, Ehua (@ehuamusic) and Chevel (@chevelmusic) alongside mainstays such as DJ Plead (@1djplead) and DJ JM (@deejay_jm) for a neat ten-tracker that delves into the global, hybrid sounds that have become the label's signature over the past few years.

While all tracks are catered towards the dancefloor, no two tracks sound the same. From reggaeton to club delirium to object blue's 'Neo Noir' – a hypnotic techno mutation that echoes the drama and high energy experienced in one of blue's sets – it's a brilliant comp filled with brilliant artists from a label that's only getting better.
