This song was recorded in 1972 at Blue Rock Sudios in New York, NY, by my band Stonefront. At the time we were living in the magnificent 47 room Garwood Mansion located on Greyhaven Island on the shores of Lake St. Claire where the Detroit River flows out toward the Great Lakes water system.

A Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 is the audio interface for guitars and vocals, and an M-Audio Keystation 49 USB Midi Keyboard Controller is using Native Instruments Kontakt 5 for bass guitar. Toontrack’s EZ Drummer 2 handles the drums. All instruments and vocals by Larry Merryman. Vocals recorded at Thelma Street Studios Rockford, Illinois. Music & lyrics by Larry Merryman. This song was recorded at one of the Motown studios way back in 1969 or 1970. One of the producer/manager crew at that time was a guy named Brian Dombrowski, and he was a recording engineer at Motown, so we got the studio one Sunday morning (we snuck in) and recorded a few songs; this was one of them. The photo shows left to right, Jeep Capone-drums/vocals; Bob Stayton-rhythm guitar; Rick Stockwell-lead guitar/vocals/composer; Rodney Shives bass guitar/vocals; Larry Merryman-guitar/vocals/composer, and an unnamed cat.
I’m not even sure what the name of the band was then, but this was definitely the first seed planted that would eventually grow into Stonefront. We were all living in Rockford, Illinois, at the time, and times were pretty tough, but we managed to put out some pretty good songs.

Sun Goes Down ft. Harry_HiWatt_Bourlier

This is the rhythm track to a soon to be masterpiece performed by a phenomenal guitar player named Harry “HiWatt” Bourlier out of New Baltimore, MI. I plan to travel to Harry’s home sometime in the not too distant future, and with the blessing of his beautiful wife Linda I will record “HiWatt’s” lead guitar track on my very portable Presonus  Studio One v2.6.5.30360 recording platform that is installed on a Toshiba Satellite L855-S5210. Stay tuned for some incredible music folks…..a little Spanish Fusion is coming your way. And wait until I can get another phenom named Gary Markley to lay down his incredible version and interpritation on this tune..........if he should be so willing and kind. Gary's acoustic guitar work is magical, and I truly hope we get to hear some of it.

Pistolero de Bourlier

Dave Picard takes lead vocal on this Danny Kirwin (Fleetwood Mac) tune, and knocks it out of the park. This song is from the collection of Stonefront/Acoustic material that was recorded at Gage Street Studios in Pontiac, MI, about 40+ years ago. Gage Street Studios was a homemade, makeshift studio we set up in the basement of my brother's house in Pontiac, MI, that used a TEAC A3340S for the primary recording machine and a Roberts 770X Crossfeied Heads for dubs and additional tracks. We were pretty stone and drunk most of the time, but I digress.
