“‘A Long Time’ was the first song written for Innocents. Originally the whole record was going to all sound like that – lo-fi downtempo dance music. Early dance music was futuristic, but had these sounds that had a broken-down warmth to them. It’s why so many electronic musicians love Bladerunner: there’s all this high tech stuff, but it’s grimy at the same time. 

I like letting an element of wistful nostalgia creep in, specifically through sampling things that happened a long time ago. The vocals that are sampled on ‘The Long Time’ are probably seventy years old: they’re filled with longing and pathos, recorded by someone who’s been dead for quite a long time. It’s futuristic nostalgia, or maybe nostalgic futurism? Electronic music has this openness to bygone aesthetics and technologies that have sort of a naïve wistful quality to them.

Feels and soft textures abount in the latest release from Russian producer Nuage. Stepping out from the drum and bass-inspired thematics of his earlier releases, his 8-track release, "Neida," released today on Project:Mooncircle, exposes his deep palate and a subtle touch as the music tells the story of an ill-fated protagonist who answers an invisible, spiritual call that leads him to a watery demise at the hands of the sea.

Once a year Mesa Recordings and Team Everything gather all the magic we can muster and put on a twenty hour, outdoor, family friendly,  dance event on the high desert plateau of Glorieta Mesa. This year's shenanigan featured an incredible two and a half hour set from the one and only Acid Pauli directly followed by this uncategorizable performance from Feathericci. There were many twists and turns. Feelings were felt. By the end of his set just about everyone on the dance floor was crying including Feath himself. Does the emotion of the experience translate to this recording? Decide for yourself!

Solid Steel (1st December) Our guest in Hour 1 is Walton who dropped his third instalment on Tectonic Recordings last month, calling upon Japanese influences where Asian instrumentation meets head to head with the cutting edge sounds of a UK grime-techno axis. The Manchester based producer has also released an album and 12's on Hyperdub, and in his mix unloads a pile of unreleased tracks from the likes of Rabit, Pinch, Lamont, Commodo, Ishan Sound x Hodge, Lowquid, Compa, Boofy and DJ Sinclair. He told us;
"The mix is a showcase of music I’m really into at the moment and also a good example of what to expect from me in the club."
