The 3D Reworks series aims to challenge artists to express their work and expand their creative awareness to enable every listener to experience high-definition immersive audio. The EP comprises three tracks of headphone surround sound, immersive audio at it's most powerful. 

Experience: shifting scenes with trains thundering past; teleportation into a futuristic virtual reality headphone rave; and an escape to a digital dream-like state. Llyr presents music created using a mixture of binaural recordings captured of an eerily daunting present-day London by award-winning sound designer Will Cohen and a series of personal answer phone recordings left for him by Crystal Tassels, a renowned burlesque singer from the Berlin performance art underground

"In keeping with Mesh's 3D Reworks series this was originally conceptualised for headphone listening. I used binaural (‘3D’) recordings and lots of binaural (and other spatial) processing techniques. It should translate fairly well to regular speakers too, but you'll be missing out on some of the fun. I tried to create dense, dynamic mixes with a rich audio environment to explore. The intention is that with repeat listens you can discover different things buried in the music. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating it."

The result being an enveloping abstracted wander through dream space, beautiful sweeping harmonies, and even a delve into the dancefloor where we get a more centralised punch before returning to the outer edges of sound around our heads. On April 9th, Berlin based Thomas Fehlmann returns with his new album Böser Herbst. Produced as the soundtrack to a documentary made by Volker Heise, ‘Herbst 1929, Schatten Über Babylon’, which offers historical insight to the third season of the television series Babylon Berlin. It adds yet another string to the bow of this most forward-thinking and creative artist, whose history takes in NDW (Palais Schaumburg), techno (3MB) and psychedelic ambience (The Orb), plus a clutch of gorgeous solo albums that explore wide terrain, from the dancefloor through supine home listening to compelling soundtrack work.

Be lifted into the air by the glassy drones of “Umarmt”. It’s a music of temporal disjuncture and clairvoyant resonance, “speaking with the past – alert, distant and quixotic.” A taste of what is soon to come.

"Waves have been mercilessly hitting the deck, blades of wind sliced and cut right through the sails. The ship was dangerously spinning in-between white foam streams and charcoal-black rocks. It felt like the storm would never end.

In a brief moment, the clouds have swayed away and the wind got silent. Everything became completely still. The crew stood in awe, unable to pick a single word... Somewhere in the distance, through the morning haze, they could spot the emerald domes of Porcelain Atoll."

Our second V/A Compilation "Porcelain Atoll" welcomes familiar faces, as well as newcomers to the label. Since our first compilation came in the very beginning of a major worldwide lockdown, we can only hope, that our second edition will mark the end of these troubling times. Let us hope that soon we will find our own Porcelain Atoll.
