Earlier in 2025, Wevie Stonder returned to Skam with their first album in 16 years, and such an occasion requires further celebration, no? Sure Beats Living delivers more of the collective’s signature cheekiness, and this mix for Bleep unravels all of the wildly eclectic sounds and styles that have powered over two decades of iconoclasm.

This is probably the only mix you’ll find that travels from drill and bass to Ecuadorian synth cumbia to 40s jazz. Constant stylistic U-turns are the name of the game, and as the group recontextualise tracks with comedic skits and spoken word pieces, you never know which little sonic nugget is going to be the jumping off point for a completely opposite yet cleverly connected world of sound. Wevie Stonder’s own strange crossing between avant experimentation and punkish irreverence sits between the jangling bass guitar of Gary Le Strange, whose reclusive hikikomori-induced paranoia is delivered in an ironic nasally britpop voice, and the wonky synth funk of Devonwho with lush crisp beats and thrumming jazzy keys.

Bucolic Moog wash and lounge piano tiptoe beneath a Radiophonic Workshop-esque segment testing out the possibilities of synthesisers; “Finally, an example of rhythmic electronic music,” says the posh presenter, introducing a full and proper rinsing with some classic Squarepusher chops. Amen breaks are chucked in the shredder and glued back together with thick jungle bass, then dissipate into Hiroshi Yoshimura’s birdsong bliss. With these disparate tracklist transitions, each track in itself brings together unlikely combinations: further melodrama from Gary Le Strange pairs southern crooning with jaunty harpsichord, bass punches and cascading pianos flow between J Dilla’s slow hip hop hits, and Polibio Mayorga merges accordion and cowbells with the theatrics of expressively vintage synth sounds, brass and electronics trading lines on ‘Muñequita Blanca’.

The TikTok tour de force talks about '90s electronica, UK garage and her 2025 mixtape, Fancy Some More?

There's a new generation of artists who've come up almost entirely online, and perhaps the breakthrough star of the TikTok music era is PinkPantheress. A few years ago, the British 24-year-old quietly strategised how to game the social media algorithm and get her songs to go viral. She succeeded—and became a headliner practically overnight. She's openly talked about how she got there, including writing songs in short formats and using confessional, diaristic lyrics to capture the hearts of her growing audience.

Today, PinkPantheress is promoting her 2025 mixtape, Fancy Some More?, which heavily references the UK club sounds of the '90s and early '00s, blended seamlessly with contemporary electronica and pop. In this interview with RA's Joelle Robinson, she dives into the making of this release, and candidly reflects on navigating her newfound fame and overcoming the challenges, both personal and professional, that have accompanied a high-intensity touring life. She also reveals her aspirations for the future—which include big plans to reach yet another level of success—and her dreams for the broader electronic music landscape, too. Its time for another Quadrasphere and once again, its another very special one. We are extremely blessed to welcome Cousin Silas to our series, and he does not disappoint. He has carefully crafted a mix of all his own material, including some edits made exclusively for us and his mix. Cousin Silas has been producing music, both electronically and acoustically for a very long time, and he also is one of the biggest champions of other producers, inspiring many collaborations and projects, primarily through his Cousin Silas Emporium. "Not sure if some of the edits could indeed be classed as exclusives, in truth they have been created just for this mix, so??? A Sprig Of Rowen, Anemoa 2-1, and Emporium Drone 018 haven't been released yet, so depending on when this mix sees the light of day, that may well have changed, but as of creating this, it's true that they are unreleased!
The times are as close as dammit, have to be honest I've never been able to work out how to do time stamps, but like I say, the times in the list above are close.

We return with another very special Quadrasphere, and we welcome back our very own Wilson donning his Scavenger alias as he puts together a deep and leftfield ambient mix. With any mix that's ambient leaning, the definition of that ambience can vary from artist to artist and so its always great to experience one that has this level of creativity and originality. As always, you can hear the Quadrant Soundscape energy here, and although most of this mix includes records that you may not yet have heard played on Dub Explorations or the many mixes Wilson has put out there, they certainly would be right at home. This mix is all vinyl, and when reading his thoughts on the creation of this mix, we hope you feel like you're right there with him as he was executing it in the very classy way he has. 

Here are a few words from Scavenger

"This is a mix that I've been wanting to record for probably 6 months. It's something I started thinking about when I was re-ordering my records into the new studio. I came across a little stack of ambient oddities and after having a listen through ideas started to swirl. Some of these records have been on my shelves for 10 years or more without ever really being used in any tangible form and so I decided they needed to see the light of day.

In a way they reflect the sort of things I enjoy listening to at home, usually when it's dark and rainy, certainly moody. There's a nice mix of ambient, down-tempo, roots, Dub and even some spoken word.

I really tried to create an atmosphere through playing these records, some are pitched up , some pitched down, and some are at completely the wrong speed (or the right speed, depending on how you look at it). There's some lovely cracks and pops throughout that I feel only add to the warmth of the mix, as well as being part and parcel of playing vinyl.

This is definitely one to kick back and get horizontal to. Headphones or speakers turned up, and drift away.

Carving out a fierce reputation across labels like Downwards, Opal Tapes, iDEAL Recordings and DKA Records. Christian Donaghey’s relentless live show has seen him tour worldwide alongside Veronica Vasicka, Silent Servant, and Wire, delivering workouts that pummel those lower frequencies into submission.

 
Now, as he joins Ransom Note with the ferocious EP ‘Through the Construction of Grace’ EP, the “lanky, ginger man from Derry” offers up a mix that captures his intuitive approach to music-making. Recorded in his bedroom, it’s a journey through the sounds that have shaped Autumns’ “awful attempts at ripping off every bit of music that I like” from DJ Hell & Alan Vega collaborations to deep Post-Punk in Dub territory.

It’s confusing, distorted vocals and atonal blasts that taste like marmalade, and moves with the scrappy resourcefulness of a raccoon.
