Mesh Series 001: Voltereta 

A curated series where we commission artists to make an hour long mix of whatever inspires them to experiment, produce, play out and what they listen to.  
 
Voltereta [Feli Navarro] originally from Barecelona, is based in the south of Spain in Cadiz, he creates and explores fields of electronic music, digital art and performance. His formative years were spent studying at the Music Technology Group in Barcelona followed by performing at La Biennale di Venezia with the Galata Electroacoustic Orchestra. He is currently a researcher and collaborator at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona)
 
Being a lover of thorough production, Voltereta brings the potency of melodic techno together with the depth of ambient and sound art, crafting a fluid and eclectic style of dense atmospheres that invite dancing and introspection. After ’Castigo Al Mar’ (Traum Schallplatten, 2015) and his EP ’Cabezas Bien Altas’ (Sr. Nadie Subcultura Recordings, 2016) he focused on creating visuals, collaborations with other artists and, step by step, recording his new album ‘Nubla’ (Làdeli Editions, 2020).
 
Due to his fascination with the evocativeness of electronic music, the narrative component always plays an important role in his releases. Memory and dreams, the dialogue between digital technology and nature, the ideas of dystopia and utopia or the meaning of home, have played a role in shaping his discography.
 
The artwork was chosen by the artist, some words below:
"Some months ago I commissioned the artwork for my new album Nubla to Rob Clouth. We ended up having a collection of really nice computer-generated artworks made with a custom software developed by Rob. I've chosen this one because I think it represents how the mix goes, something that looks organic but it's been digitally generated, that can resemble a peaceful picture taken in nature but it also contains darkness and some sort of void and uncertainty"

~When we listen to music that moves us, the dopaminergic circuitry of the brain is activated, which opens the mind to wonder and exploration. In this bodily state of musical awe, we often tear up and get the chills, those embodied signs of merging with others to face mysteries and the unknown… Music breaks down the boundaries between self and other and can unite us in feelings of awe… When we listen to music with others, the great rhythms of our bodies — heartbeat, breathing, hormonal fluctuations, sexual cycles, bodily motion — once separate, merge into a synchronized pattern.
