The classic song with one of the best melodies of all time. The lyrics were written in 1910 by Frederic Weatherly and refitted to the tune Londonderry Air in 1913. To my surprise, the song works well recovered in a dream pop vein with female vocals. You must hear the beautiful female chorus!!

Many may not know that the original House of the Rising Sun lyrics were written in the 1920s and represented a song popular with American miners of the day. The lyrics differ somewhat from the popular versions recorded in the '70s. Since the original lyrics were written 100 years ago, the song is now copyright free as long as renditions do not infringe on previous artists. This version does not.

And we rarely remember the past as it really was, so we tweak it to make it fit, but does the "fit" represent truth or reality? You get it: the past is a dream that we change and rearrange. The song tells the whole story in modern dream pop style.

Man tells the world why he loves his woman and this emotion is especially intense in the still of the night. Hmm, that may explain the song's title. This is a slow, dreamy dream pop tune with crooning vocals and great crying guitar riffs. Give it a listen if that appeals to you. Thanks.

This song is inspired by the words of famous write Kahlil Gibran (I've liberally changed words from the book ("The Prophet") but hopefully retained his intent. Message songs with melody aren't a bad thing! Hope you agree. Featured are the vocal styling of Steve and Andromeda.

On Life & Love

MUSIC MADE IN CANADA: Music has been a large part of my life since my teen years when I started playing guitar. Used to play popular pop and country songs in bars, songs written by other artists but for past couple decades have focused entirely on writing and producing my own songs across a number of genres: pop, country, blues, and more recently dream pop and what I'm calling whiskey blues dream pop, a style that merges the two and that seems complimentary to my ear. I believe each style can sound good and give people pleasure: that's my goal in writing. Now I produce sounds featuring both male and female vocals as the lyrics dictate; variety is the spice of...well, you know. Thanks for listening.
