She built a house, but the house refused to stand — it rose on narrow chicken legs and began to spin. Baba Yaga taught it to turn, to change course, to seek traces of lost travelers. The hut became her eyes and claws: it spun to catch a whisper on the road, to avoid patrols, to dance with the stars. When she rose and the house pivoted down the rootways, she felt the first taste of freedom — and the first responsibility for the paths that sprung from it.
