Segundo a mitologia, Zebub era um infernunita arqui-inimigo de Baal. Este, junto com grandes magos da antiguidade, foi derrotado por Zebub numa batalha épica que, por ter expandido suas forças no cosmo, abriu um abismo que sugou os dois deuses e se uniram em um só, o então "belth-zebul". Seu espírito foi arremessado ao inferno e lá perdurou na "fossa", com intuito de preservação do funcionamento do cosmos.


According to mythology, Zebub was a hellish archenemy of Baal. This, along with great magicians of antiquity, was defeated by Zebub in an epic battle that, for having expanded his forces in the cosmos, opened an abyss that sucked in the two gods and they were united in only one, the then "belth-zebul". His spirit was cast into hell and remained there in the "cesspool", with the aim of preserving the functioning of the cosmos.
