People move to cities seeking opportunities. Bigger the city, better the chances of finding something good. When people pour into cities from all directions, sooner or later cities become a melting pot of cultures, attitudes, languages and behaviors. This is both good and bad. Good because being in one place, in one concentrated spot you can experience so much of the diverse representations of various parts of the world. There is so much to learn from and enrich life with. At the same time, it can be bad for someone who is trying to fit in. This person feels absolutely lonely in the frequent jams of cross-cultural traffic. Consider this: It is very characteristic of cities where people feel lonely, although surrounded by a million others in close proximity. Especially in the nights, you may observe yourself strolling through brightly lit streets, walking past several faces unknown, lost in thought and trying to get to that one comforting place…Home! Home is a notion you carry along with you, beyond borders, beyond nations. Home is the feeling of acceptance and familiarity among strangers. A space where you are who you are. Home is a real place too. There is one for everyone. Those who find it can rest assured and contemplate other adventures. Those who spend time searching for this place, can rest after a long day’s work and recharge hope. Hope to keep searching the next day and the day after, until someday finally Home.

Bombay city is a special place on Earth. A constant dynamic source of experiences both awesome and sad. This is a place of extremes. Anything related to life and to living in the city is spread out between two extremes. You often find both ends of the spectrum placed right next to each other in the real world. That dichotomy is what can be best described as life in Bombay. The slums, the suburbs, the local trains, the ubiquitous honking of automobiles, the omnipresent rush, the poor, the rich, the prevalent middle-class, the original residents & the newcomers, the cool & happening crowd, the musicians, the artistes, the theaters, the galleries, the movie industry, the drugs, the economy, the business parks, the pollution, the colonial past, the multi-cultural “glocal” present, the exploding population, the surprisingly low relative crime-rate, the rock shows, the clubs, the eating haunts, the nightlife, the beer and “quarter” bars, the sex workers, the junkies, the glamour, the order in chaos, the charm, the uncertainty, the epic randomness, the traffic, the auto-rickshaws and taxis, the beggars, the smog, the 5-star hotels, the filth of open garbage & gutters, the blurring of affluence and effluence, the addictive vibe, the stylish lingo, the street-smart attitude, the make-out points, the esteemed colleges, the unmapped network of streets & lanes, the sheer concentration of humanity, the mental, physical, emotional, sensual, real, surreal maze of Bombay. Step into the labyrinth.

Shaman Raga

Metakix was a heavymetal band in Bombay/India that was active in the live circuit all of 2000s. The band fronted by Deepak Menon "Z" aka ZOMB, was a pioneer in the Indian Rock Scene and helped create the scene as it is today. Metakix in its 11 years long career gigged extensively, released two full length albums and couple of singles that were distributed worldwide. Following an all India tour, the band disbanded in 2008. "Z" now fronts a new power-trio called The Cyans (The Science)in Germany.
