Somber Light is an instrumental band from Italy born in the end of 2008, when Carlo Polo, the ex-guitarist of a brit-pop band named Oversonic, decided to create a new band and to try new introspective styles as post-rock, sludge and shoegaze and so posted a bulletin. The first answers came from Leonardo Lucchese a guitarist with 4 years of the experience at the Lizard Academy, then came the bassist Francesco Danilo Felis, ex bassist of a punk-rock band called Luiding.
Successively Leonardo left the band for problems with the work.
The 6th January 2009 the drummer Domenico Carnevale joined the band that returned a trio.
The 2nd of May they recorded their first demotape in 4 tracks named “Somber Light”.
The 11th February 2011 they recorded in their rehearsal room their first, album named “Akira” which describes a perfect maturation of their sound, near to bands like Sonic Youth and Explosions in the Sky, with completely instrumental songs.
The new team melts up with the issue in February 2013 of the brand new EP "Orgaenia", which furthermore is the last contribution of the founder member, Carlo, who decides to leave the band in July of the same year pushed up to northern Europe from his artistical wills

Il gruppo nasce verso la fine del 2008 quando Carlo Polo, ex chitarrista degli Oversonic, dopo mesi di attese forzate e insoddisfazioni, decide di creare una band e sperimentare musica nuova e così mette su un annuncio. Il primo a rispondere è il chitarrista Leonardo Lucchese, proveniente da 4 anni di studio da Alessandro Damoli. Dopo ricerche di bassisti e batteristi al duo si unisce il bassista Francesco Danilo Felis, vecchio amico d’infanzia di Carlo ed ex bassista dei Luiding.
Dopo qualche prova in tre finalmente il 6 gennaio entra nella band il batterista Domenico Carnevale, ex batterista in una band jazz e nella cover band Antimateria, ma problemi di lavoro inducono Leonardo a lasciare la formazione.
Il 2 maggio 2009 la band registra al Dirty Sound Studio di Angiari il primo demo, intitolato “Somber Light”, contenente 4 tracce.
A febbraio 2011 è uscito il loro primo album ufficiale, “Akira” (omaggio al maestro del cinema giapponese Akira Kurosawa) formato da 7 tracce registrate qualche mese prima nella loro sala prove da Dork (ex batterista dei Kreeps e ora nei Backing Band Project) fra atmosfere evocative, distruzioni soniche e rumori dal fondo. L’album è stato presentando dal gruppo al Latte+ di Brescia.
Dal luglio 2011 il gruppo ritorna a quattro elementi con l'inserimento del tastierista/effettista Pietro Ansidei, il cui contributo porta la band a sonorità più elettroniche e ambient, discostandosi leggermente dalla viscerale impronta rock delle origini. Il nuovo amalgama si perfeziona con l'uscita nel febbraio 2013 del nuovo EP "Orgaenia", che è peraltro l'ultimo contributo del membro fondatore, Carlo, il quale lascia il gruppo a luglio dello stesso anno spinto verso il nord Europa dalle sue ambizioni artistiche.
