The first 3 years of Good Looking were a big bang for what became atmospheric jungle and dnb. Originally an outlet for LTJ Bukem's tracks, the label eventually included other artists who shared his vision. These early tracks are rooted in hardcore rave - rough, unpredictable, idealistic - while turning away from the darkside elements pervading the scene. While these tracks sound great by themselves, IMO they really come alive in the mix. Track list is below. Enjoy!

Out today, June 18, Laurent Fintoni's Original Cultures project drops the first official material born of the unique music and visual art events it has hosted in Bologna (IT) and London (UK) since 2009. The Formula is a four-track EP of music written and composed by young Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist Fabrizio ‘B.Kun’ Pollice with drums by Ed ‘HED’ Amati. Together these two form Beat Inc., a project which was first introduced as part of Original Cultures’ 2011 production The Formula - from which the EP take its name. Having had an incredible year already with singles from D-Bridge, Commix, Jubei & Flowdan, Lenzman and label boss Goldie, Metalheadz go all out with yet another impressive instalment of their ‘Genesis’ EP series. Dropping four heavy tracks, this one will definitely be at the forefront of the D&B elite’s playlists this winter.

First up Mortem delivers ‘Iceberg’ a hauntingly chilly piece of music with echoed vocal snippets, crisp two-stepping breaks, cavernous sound effects and a shifting slab of bass. All the elements combine effortlessly in Mortem’s hands as he crafts each moment with expert precision.

FD kicks down your front door and runs away with your prized possessions as he drops ‘Break & Enter’ – a chunky bass-weight track that sounds immense when played loud. This one will undoubtedly shake the bass bins of any club you care to drop it in.

Next up Prolix shows a slightly deeper side to his sound with winding Reese bass combinations and tight drums that roll endlessly across a grizzling background atmosphere. ‘What You Need’ must be a punch in the gut with Prolix’ sub bass! 

Rounding off the EP come Quadrant & Iris who team up on ‘Anthropocene’. Leading you in with a gentle intro with two step beats and far away pads you’re quickly drawn into a much grimier and heavier world as soon as the bassline drops. 

This is an impeccably produced and expertly hand-picked selection of the best drum & bass around; something you have always come to expect from Metalheadz.
