The year is 2077. AI is dominant in the world and has evolved to the point that it is able to grow hybrids of organisms and primitive technology, which are capable of creating stunning melodies and intricate drums and bass evoking memories of happier days in a bygone era.

Following on from ‘Hollow World EP’ is the third release on Codename: RCRDS, the new label from Southampton-based jungle, 160 and atmospheric crew Codename: Amen. The release and label channel the energy of the 90’s rave era, pushing the sound forward into exciting new directions for 2023. The ‘Drifting…’ series focusses specifically on more atmospheric / melodic tracks and presents a diverse international roster of artists residing in Finland, Sweden, the UK and Armenia.

Songs For A Drifting Rose opens with the stunning ‘We Look Back’ by Mineral, an evocative dreamy opener which builds gradually throughout towards a beautiful crescendo. Flipper joins the action on the second track with the haunting vocal number ‘Don’t Blame’ with subtle pads and arpeggios combining with a rumbling bassline and the understated vocals to create a stunning and unique track which works as well on both the dancefloor and at home.

Label co-owner Moakz contributes the understated roller ‘More Pressure’, contrasting rising strings and keys with everlasting looping vocals and rolling drums and bass locking you into the groove. The EP closes with the title track ‘Song For A Drifting Rose’ by the incredible Nothing, full of soulful sax and guitar licks, a perfect soundtrack to long summer nights and faraway lands.

One very interesting track we did with the debut producer WAVY, on the occasion of our Metafiziq Recordings event in London on the 18th of may https://ra.co/events/1893629 . For the riffs and pads I played the melodies with my Korg Minilog XD in the nuances of the style she plays combined with old school vibes. We also used whale sounds. Toronto's Gremlinz has been carving a path of his own within Drum & Bass for over a decade, staying true to the core elements of the music and never wavering from his sound, regardless of whatever the passing trends around him might have been. His signature sound remains rooted equally in Reinforced/Metalheadz/Bluenote era Jungle as it is in Renegade Hardware’s early 2000s moodiness, bookended by equal parts Dub and Techno and tied together with an ever-present B Boy edge.

Its 1990 and a young DJ Ink has solidified his love for the culture known as hip hop- as the years move on so does UK street music, there are new genre’s forming and Ink begins to hear what is familiar to him, but there is a new twist-it is the UK passing by the USA, with a huge dose of African and Jamaican influence , and of course this is music to a budding Dj Ink’s ears. First begins the Pirate Radio Circuit, working hard at his craft, allowing the followers to get familiar with the roll, steadlily bookings began to build up and soon it would be time for Ink to become associated with three names that changed the landscape of British electronic music-and they were Basement Records, and slightly later Metalheadz and Renegade Hardware

This release comes as a limited 140g clear vinyl 12" pressing with full artwork sleeve + white glossy inner sleeve, including a mp3 download voucher + a free poster/inlay and all tracks mastered by Stuart Hawkes of Metropolis Mastering London.
