The next edition of the Bassic mix series comes from legendary Quarantine Recordings boss, Fierce. 

Respected highly in the scene and considered a "DJ's DJ", Fierce strongly upholds a quality over quantity approach, embodying the phrase 'true to the craft'; his integrity remaining unblemished. 

Since first appearing on No U-Turn aged 16 (and Prototype & Virus in the late 90s), Fierce has become a quintessential pillar of D&B, paving the way for artists like Break & Cause4Concern on his own label Quarantine. 

Making a very welcome return to the scene in 2014 with a run of impressive singles on Quarantine, his latest single 'Intrinsic / Second Nature' w/ Zero T is out this week, heavily supported by Friction, LTJ Bukem, DJ Hype & Doc Scott. 

With a run of remixes, re-digitised classics and collabs coming up very soon, his next release is for Zero T's forthcoming album 'Golden Section' on Dispatch this Summer.

Planet Euphorique is the name of @d-tiffany’s label, but also a perfect summation of her sound: musically she reworks rave, euphoria, trance, electro, breakbeat and techno into all out emotional onslaughts that get hands in the air and chests swelling with joy. The Canadian - who also runs the xpq? label - has always got things done on her own terms, from running parties in her own house in Vancouver to making dance music with the gear she had previously used as part of a band via setting up her own women-focused Intersessions DJ school.

This week she treats us to an extra special two hour selection that will take you to the heart of a rave in your front room. It’s a mix that bristles with life, from dusty and teary-eyed breakbeats that are shrouded in nostalgia to more clipped and kicking techno. The mixing is tight and urgent and after initially serving up plenty of lush moments of melody and IDM introspection, it grows all the more direct and unhinged later on.

The labels output continues to showcase a maturing genre of music that displays influences from reggae, hip-hop, house and techno with highly-sophisticated and intricately-produced tracks, contrary to the image of the music that is typically presented by the mass media.

Releasing music from some of the biggest names out there whilst at the same time pushing and letting new talent break through are the reasons why Metalheadz continues to stay at the forefront of drum and bass. The stable is currently home to Goldie, Lenzman, Jubei, Commix, Ulterior Motive, Artificial Intelligence, Dom & Roland, OneMind, Mikal, Blocks & Escher and SCAR.

The Metalheadz label was also the driving force behind the seminal Sunday Session Club Nights, which achieved legendary status at London's Blue Note club.
