The first 2 tracks taken from the forthcoming B292 album by SB81.

What started as an experiment, born in the stillness of the early months of 2020, Metalheadz and SB81 are proud to present 'B292'.

The largest body of music ever released by Metalheadz, 'B292' is made up of 29 tracks across 2 defined parts with a strong emphasis on old skool influences. It's SB81's experiences as a youth that give him a real understanding of this era, something that cannot be replicated and where authenticity always stands tall. 

Beginning as a small batch of tracks it wasn't long before Goldie encouraged SB81 to explore the idea of an album, and via several trips around Low Hill in Wolverhampton (where SB81 lived until the age of 30), it was here where the nostalgia and drive took hold for good. 

SB81 calls this project a 'pre-1994 Metalheadz sound', and although no 29-track album deserves such a brief description it does seem so fitting - even more so with a huge amount of respect and admiration for labels such as Reinforced, Production House and Moving Shadow embodied throughout. 

Make no mistake, this is in no way purely an album that tries to recreate the old. The music at its core remains as cutting edge as ever with a fresh on the ears feel and a rave-ready approach. 

SB81's 'B292' releases in full on 31st May 2024, including a 4x coloured vinyl package, bespoke full colour sleeve designed by the incredibly talent EPOD and a bonus box set available exclusively via the Metalheadz website and Bandcamp.

Channell drops "So Sweet," the second single from his upcoming EP "Full Circle" EP on The North Quarter. Following the success of "Substance," this track blends moody jazz with contemporary beats and has been doing damage at the TNQ residency at Phonox. Channell's emotive melodies and infectious rhythms showcase his particular take on bass music, building anticipation for the EP's release later this year.

Dub Phizix returns to Metalheadz for the first time since 2016 with the 'Like A Rope EP'.

It's still true to this day that you can identify a Dub Phizix track from an immediate first listen, with the Manchester-based artist possessing a unique sonic ability that has secured his reputation as a genuine innovator.

With the highly discernible vocal talents of Fox enlisted on the title track, the roots of which can be traced back almost 2 decades, it was Goldie's XOYO residency in 2021 where the final mix got its first play and where the EP began to take shape.

A varied 4 tracker, Dub Phizix has never been afraid to introduce an unexpected detail or head in a more unorthodox direction with a legacy that is far from over but one that continues to expand and excite.

The Metalheadz back catalogue features almost every major figure in the history of drum and bass, and is one of the most innovative labels out there, consistently crossing boundaries with its releases since 1994. The labels output continues to showcase a maturing genre of music that displays influences from reggae, hip-hop, house and techno with highly-sophisticated and intricately-produced tracks, contrary to the image of the music that is typically presented by the mass media.

Releasing music from some of the biggest names out there whilst at the same time pushing and letting new talent break through are the reasons why Metalheadz continues to stay at the forefront of drum and bass. The stable is currently home to Goldie, Lenzman, Jubei, Commix, Ulterior Motive, Artificial Intelligence, Dom & Roland, OneMind, Mikal, Blocks & Escher and SCAR.

The Metalheadz label was also the driving force behind the seminal Sunday Session Club Nights, which achieved legendary status at London's Blue Note club. Today, Metalheadz club nights are often sell outs with the label also regularly hosting stages at some of the biggest festivals across the world.
