We are so excited to guest one of the best artists in EBM scene for us! BROKEN ENGLISH CLUB! Is a project by Oliver Ho that explores the “dark friction” between man and machine. It has spawned three albums, most recently february 2021, White Rats III on L.I.E.S., which soundtracked the desolate scenes of his surroundings with eerie experimental techno. Heavy on apocalyptic synths and doom laden drums, and occasionally run through with melodic optimism, it’s a brilliant testament to Ho’s evocative studio skills after ten years of making more straight up techno as Raudive.

Elements of EBM and industrial come into focus on these albums, as they do in the most recent mix he has put together for us. In just over an hour, plenty of angular grooves, slapping drums and cold, chilly metallic surfaces unfold in dystopian fashion. We really hope we can have him with us soon.

THC Podcast Series 089 - Broken English Club

Following their 5th anniversary, the Berlin-based event series Art Bei Ton is kicking off its label with a first VA release ‘Approaching The Illusion’ featuring 7 tracks from Ambient to Hypnotic and Deep Techno.  

The goal is to promote diverse international artists involved with our community and curate a sound reflecting different sides of our scene.  

Opening the VA with a dark and ritualistic Ambient track composed by the Sardinian artist @tvsflute, the journey follows a shamanic path by touching some euclidean rhythmics with the downtempo beat from our Art Bei Ton resident @mownofficial.  

Approaching a hypnotic dimension with @amlia’s unique atmospheric production, the VA follows up with a psychedelic tune from the Leipzig-based artist @vanta_techno.  

The collaboration between @fephmusic and @mr_tron offers another aspect of the hypnotic sound, with some more driving and uplifting vibes.  

Wrapping up this first release, the Berlin-based artist @andreacossumusic brings us to an unusually long and trippy journey through some mental whispering voices. The Indian producer @synistermusic takes the listener into a dark and dystopian momentum through a powerful Deep Techno groove.

The Profundo Collective is releasing the second edition of the "Ritmos de la Reunión" compilation, which features names like Trøm Borg, Adhémar, Morpha, Federico Corrado, Hod, and Doctrina Natura. Today's spotlight falls upon the latter, whose track "Incarnation" serves as the grand finale of this diverse release.
Doctrina Natura, hailing from Seville, crafts a steady, pulsating groove that acts as the bedrock for his track. Imagine it as the beating heart of a divine being, upon which he layers ethereal pads and melodies that shimmer like celestial stardust. These elements linger and intertwine, creating a magic that feels both grounded and otherworldly. It's an apt closing track, embodying the essence of "incarnation" – the divine brought to life in a tangible form, just as the compilation itself brings together the diverse talents of these international artists.

Turnabout

"ASCENSION" is the debut album release from artist ston, an independently released project. 

For Ascension, I set out to explore hard house, bassline, and electronic elements throughout.

This body of work means a lot to me; it took up six months of my life and taught me so much about music production. It also taught me the importance of committing to what you set out to achieve and the struggles that can come with that. Most importantly, it showed me that imperfection is okay when the alternative is procrastination.

I created this album using the DAW FL Studio, and as of its release, I’ve begun transitioning to Ableton, a commitment I set for myself when I first began this project.
Through this experience, I’ve learned that moving forward, I want to dive into more intricate ideas and trust my creative process without falling into the trap of comparing my work to others. I’m eager to experiment with more abstract percussions, deeper emotional progressions, and unconventional grooves. It’s going to be a journey, but I’m excited for it to begin.
