The CIRCLE is proud to present the first Hong Kong local Footwork/Juke music compilation "In Memory of DJ Rashad" !!!

The Chicago-based pioneer of Footwork music and also the founder of Footwork family Teklife, DJ Rashad, passed away on April 26, 2014, but his impact continued unabated. The CIRCLE is honored to invite seven local music producers from Hong Kong and Macau to participate in this music compilation. There are predecessors who first introduced Footwork to Hong Kong, and there are also cutting-edge newcomers in recent years. They pay homage to the legendary DJ Rashad with a brand-new production and at the same time showcase the latest sounds from the local Footwork scene.

來自芝加哥的 DJ Rashad 是 Footwork 音樂先驅和 Teklife 團隊的創始人， 他於2014年4月26日離開人世，但其影響一直有增無減。The CIRCLE 有幸邀請到七位港澳本地音樂製作人參與今次的音樂合輯，有最早把 Footwork 引進香港的前輩，亦有近年加入陣線的新銳DJ創作人。他們一同以全新作品向 DJ Rashad 這位傳奇人物作至高的敬意，並同時為大家展示本地 Footwork 的最新聲音。

Nuan Sonar - Viscochno

The title of the album is GenesisGrid Technologies, named after a telecommunications corporation that I made up. When I was writing this album early last year, I had become obsessed with cell phone towers. They had become beautiful to me, both structurally and how they connect people.

I made up a story to go along with these songs I was writing - a post-apocalyptic world where these towers are still standing even after humanity is long gone. Built by GenesisGrid Tech, they would be sentient and fitted with artificial intelligence that allows them to emotionally process the messages that are coming in and out.

When the messages stop coming in and the humans that were tasked with taking care of these skeletal obelisks are gone, the towers begin to power down. The last tower standing, in its dying breath, begins to filter through all the messages that were sent through the network and attempts to make sense of them. Families reaching out to each other, love letters, government officials, etc.

This last tower begins to send out messages of its own, to no one in particular. The messages became the songs of this album.
