Producing "Momentum" with Kill Frenzy was a really cool learning experience for me. The idea for the song came together while Seb and I were kicking it on my living room couch playing weird sounds off of our laptop speakers, just having fun. When we sat down to properly produce the track, I kept on trying to add unnecessary ideas and overcomplicate the track. Sebastien helped me realize how simple an 8 minute song can be without getting boring - it's all in the details, although that's easier said than done. Finding the subtle changes that actually work was a long trial-and-error experience for me, but it was insanely gratifying once everything fell into place.

Since Stefano Noferini's debut release on Monika Kruse's label Terminal M Records in the beginning of 2015 he released some more of his hi quality clubtunes on his own label Deeperfect, Toolroom Trax and Stereo Productions. For these three new tracks he teamed up with Metodi Hristov from Sofia, Bulgaria's capital who's releases and remixes on Rejected, Time Has Changed and Noir Music were always sure chart toppers. Curious to see which one of the three tracks will make it too.

Miami based maestro Kevin Castro is back on SCI+TEC for his first full outing, having previously appeared on the label’s Formula 4’ Compilation back in 2014 with his track Cubism. Today he returns with a new set of laser guided dancefloor weapons in the form of his ’SCI-FIX’ EP.

A sci-fi battle soundtrack leads the trio as we recoil and evade its firing shots. Crying out for a VJ extraordinaire, Ricochet is set to light up the room and inspire some matrix-like moves. Reach for ‘em.

The title track follows as we bend and flex with its rubbery bassline and aqueous drops, before crashing snares and ominous chords announce the break. But it is that pliable bottom end that will have us groovin' here.

Closing the ep is the dizzying bump of ReelDeal. Its flighty and cascading melody is a perfect hook, powered by its hulking, funky bassline.

TEC165 - 1-Kevin Castro - Ricochet Master16bit

Konnect aka DJ and producer duo Carlos Hdez and Phil Luttgenau, and Cool People aka Jose Alonso and Jonay Fel, debut on Piston with the fantastic Slow Jam EP. This duo-double act have been whipping up a storm on the scene with both groups creating some superb dancefloor cuts. Since 2014 Konnect have shown their talents in the best possible way, by churning out quality vibes at every turn. They've seen releases on various labels and featured on many compilations. Cool People have won multiple DJ competitions in Spain and after that they decided to combine forces to bring their energetic and dynamic stage performance to the clubs. We're delighted to have these four artists at Piston and we hope to see more in the future.

Slow Jam sets out with a classic styled punchy kick and shuffling hat sequence that will definitely get feet to the floors. A deep droning bass comes through and suddenly the track becomes fuller and groovier. A cool vocal gets things moving also and leads us into a fantastic synth stab that carries a retro vibe while plucky bass hits ramp up the energy. Excellent stuff with a nod to the oldskool that will most definitely appeal to the discerning clubber and DJ.

Just Wanna Bass with a nice punchy kick drum and cool snare patterns alongside crispy hats that set the scene for a solid flowing rhythm to get down and dirty to. Cool vocal shots ring out raising the tempo of the groove as the bassline starts to make its presence known. All over the track we're treated to some superb synth stabs that manifest in various forms and blend effortlessly with the deep rooted bassline. A wonderfully textured slice of tech house that is not to be missed.

Hot on the heels of the A-Sides Volume 5 compilation, Enrico Sangiuliano makes his return to Drumcode with his highly anticipated EP ‘Moon Rocks’. The heavy hitting four track EP shines a light on Sangiuliano’s tight, thundering production skills. The hoover heavy lead track ‘Moon Rocks’ is packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos. The EP encapsulates Sangiuliano’s wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the fat bass line of ‘Moon Rocks’ to the more delicate harmonies shown within the ‘Dutch Kiss’ mixes whilst ‘Ghettoblaster’ sits somewhere in between.

Metodi Hristov - Anomaly - Noir Music

Solid Grooves Records co-founder PAWSA readies his second full release on the label with a remix from Denmark’s Anek.

2016 has been pivotal for Solid Grooves as not only has the event series concluded a highly successful debut season in Ibiza but the imprint has quickly cemented itself as an essential platform for house and techno, fast becoming a favourite for names like Adam Beyer, Huxley, James Zabiela, Nicole Moudaber and Groove Armada whilst dominating the upper end of Beatport’s charts. Alongside Michael Bibi, PAWSA is at the helm of Solid Grooves - a producer known for appearances on Gruuv, MOOD, Relief Records, Do Not Sleep and Lost Records.

From the off ‘Twiple Fwet’ demonstrates PAWSA’s inimitable percussive style before introducing a rumbling bassline and looped vocal sample that’s destined to keep crowds moving. ‘Angel Dust’ then meanders forward using crunchy drums as sporadic beeps and echoing effects add to the heightening tension. Concluding the package, Anek’s remix of ‘Twiple Fwet’ incorporates syncopated percussion, menacing throbs and spacelike effects.

The young Spanish artist Miguel Bastida has all the skills to become a great producer.

His production is a sure delight and all is aimed at the dance floor with the precision of an electronic blacksmith.

  "Granos De Arena" is a jumpy funky affair with a bassline as massive as the wire of a suspension bridge.

Its percussion is as sleazy and liquid as the percussion of the famous Robotman on Definitive a long time ago, one of the great Traum favourites in terms of groove programming. "Granos De Arena" is elegant but at the same time impressively hefty.

  "Katum" is equally genius when it come to hi-end recording plus production but goes style wise slightly more into the direction of classic house music by using snippets of looped vocals. Great pace, great overview in terms of the development of the arrangement.

  "Molecules" is a bit more of a raw and roughed up track feeling wise, certainly not recording wise, since this one is also high class.

For the DJs who prefer the melodic parts restricted to the breaks, we have added an alternative (Melodic Interpretation) mix of "Molecules".
