Alex O'Rion returns to the label with the sensational 'Castle In The Sky' EP.  

Alex's influence on the modern scene is significant. Ranked Top 3 selling producer on Beatport during Covid ravaged 2020, plus a regular 25 thousand listeners tuning in on streaming platforms, the Dutch maestro has come a long way since experimenting in his childhood bedroom as a teenager. Opening with 'Castle In The Sky', a chuggy mid-set bubbler, skippy hats and rubbery bass form the undercarriage on which Alex lays out orchestral pads, keyed hooks and upbeat feels. Piano nuances in the break add yet more class to this classy groover. Tribal rhythms get 'Avalanche' off to a flying start. Hypnotising from the off, melodic elements take their time to fade into earshot, but once there, fill out the track effortlessly. Delicate and thoughtful, critical mass is reached in the break where the drop brings boundless energy and so

She incorporates styles such as house,tech ,afro house and progressive / melodic house and she plays in the most frequented clubs and events alongside top Maltese and foreign DJs. In her free time she spends time at the studio making music, her productive style incorporates various sounds however her major passion is creating various rhythms with ethnic and African percussion sounds. For her, producing is her therapy since she loves getting lost in music to feel the joyful emotions that stir into her chest.

We hope you enjoy listening back to those in attendance and those who couldn't make it we hope you enjoy the first time round. We tried to set the scene, without playing too soft but leaving plenty of headroom for Guy but mainly to get the party started for those that love melodic progressive house with some texture and groove. The room was nearly full at 10.30pm.

Here's my remix of Underworld's 'Bird 1', full length on Soundcloud. I love the original to bits and jumped at the opportunity to give it my own twist. This will be released on  Balance Music alongside my upcoming mix compilation on the same label. @balanceseries

Underworld - Bird 1 (Patrice Baumel Remix)

The latest release from Wind Horse Records dips once again into India’s fertile deep house movement, this time exposing Mumbai-based DJ / producer Troja to an awaiting global audience. The Shanti EP, consisting of three top notch house tracks, should handily further this goal.

“Shanti” leads the three originals on the EP, instantly mesmerizing with its ringing sitars and vocal chants led forward by a heartbeat-like rhythm. Tabla percussion flourishes and chiming synth melodies add to the deep house cut’s eastern appeal. This sound is expanded with “Ghats”, which adds mystical flute lines and churning layers of percussion to the dance floor equation.The track builds to an exotic bounce as plucked strings and a rising synth drone work to charm the listener. “Mantra” features a deeper, punchier rhythm and intriguing vocals of a magical persuasion. The hypnotic combination of the languid bass line and sparse beats make this one an after-hours treat for intimate venues.

Three fantastic remixes compliment Troja’s addictive originals. Berlin duo Gudio Schneider and Daniel Dreier (Highgrade, Moon Harbour) present their ‘Aztecs Explore India’ remix of “Shanti” which blends the original’s textures into a 14 minute masterwork. The voices and instruments fade in and out of the mix while the remixers’ solid house rhythm and melodic arpeggiation lines confidently anchor the production.

Wind Horse Records’ own Kali G also tackles “Shanti”, going for a dubbier treatment that plays with splashes of percussion and echoed instrumentation to create a satisfying aural journey. Another duo, Bahrain’s Zone+ & Usif, are on hand for a version of “Ghats” that may be the deepest effort on the EP. Calming key pads and hand-drum heavy beats combine with smooth sub-bass and swelling snatches of the original cut. It’s a lovely remix, showing the depth of deep house through its continuing global exchange of sound and ideas.
