A rhythm created during a common dream, a journey repeated by the rolling of the snare drums, voices bewitched by a humid path, its synthesizers are the only reason of this crystalline mist. It's time to open your eyes, this first side is full of movements ready to hypnotise and energise a dancefloor waiting for these sonic gems.

We must spin the record to find a blood coming from Kingston, however it is the Pilat that will give the rhythm of these green wizards. Their colours, of which this land alone knows the secret, blow a groove may be born from an AKAI MPC10003 caught in the Vieux Port. Its 3 pads and 2 missing buttons will deconstruct your mind.

Shoal – Ular EP [space•lab]

Shoal makes his debut on space•lab with the Ular EP, a four-track expedition that deepens his fluid, percussive and richly textured signature sound. Known for crafting immersive sonic environments, Shoal blends intricate rhythms with deep organic pulses, creating dynamic structures that evolve with subtle precision.

The tracks move with a focused energy, driven by detailed percussion and layered sound design, offering moments of intensity and spaciousness that strike a natural balance. Shoal’s instinctive command of rhythm and tension is on full display, delivering club-ready material, some of which has been road-tested in live performances.

The Ular EP is a powerful addition to Shoal’s growing body of work, further solidifying his place as one of the most standout producers in contemporary techno.

Harmony marches eastward with its 21st EP, reconnecting with its roots through a collaboration with Kohra and Monophonik. This release leans into a sharper focus on functional, dance oriented grooves and basslines.

A-side is opening with weight and intent, shedding the EP’s melancholic hues for something darker and more forceful. The gently broken spirit of “Uyire” follows, gliding between drones and gated vocals, stitched together by tactile percussion and an underlying volatility.

Mary Yuzovskaya’s Monday Off rounds out 2025 with its eighth vinyl-only various artists compilation, arriving 12th December, featuring Feph, Rasser, Mathys Lenne, and Xhato. Opening the record is Florida’s Feph, co-operator of Alchemista Records and Zosimos, with ‘A Realization’, where wild electric currents crackle over a subtle, sharp beat as shocks and zaps scatter into the darkness. Spanish DJ and producer Rasser follows with ‘Constant Pulse’, a hulking techno chugger of warped rhythms and hammering metallic hits. On the flip, France-born Germany-based Mathys Lenne, known for outings on Mord, ORBE, and Blue Hour, offers ‘A Gentle Singularity’, its tumbling percussion and drone-like synth casting a hypnotic spell while sparkling high-end shimmers above. Previous Monday Off contributor Xhato then closes with ‘Lemon Swirl’ , a mystical finisher where soft sequences snake through brooding ambience, providing a guiding light as the kick drum marches resolutely. Launched while working at the now-closed Brooklyn record store Halcyon The Shop in 2017, Mary Yuzovskaya’s Monday Off has since become a home for hypnotic excellence on wax, matching her own reputation as a formidable vinyl-only DJ and Techno producer. Across its now eighteen releases, the label has featured the likes of Blazej Malinowski, D-Leria, Milena Glowacka, ORBE, Soramimi, Viels, and Yuzovskaya herself, with each release continuing to cement her reputation as one of the genre’s most trusted curatorial voices.

PREORDER: https://amuwa.bandcamp.com/album/variance-model

Gadigal Land/Sydney producer amuwa presents his first offering to one of his city's most respected labels, Andy Garvey's Pure Space, with 'Variance Model'. The four-track EP sees amuwa continuing his lifelong exploration of electronic music's deepest edges, an endeavour made ever clearer with each episodic addition.

Overall, 'Variance Model' focuses on restraint and simplicity at a time when 'depth' in dance music is too often characterised by the harmony of countless elements. Instead, amuwa moulds the concept of depth around a rumbling core, spacious in its presentation but foundationally centred around meticulously crafted bass lines and sub frequencies.

'Angle Of Incidence', premiered here via Mixmag ANZ, is a perfect example of such moulding. The track focuses itself around a set of wobbling and jumpy basslines, with percussion and more far off sound design elements seeming to bounce off this centre. That is before, at the song's peak, amuwa gives a small but addictive taste of pads, comparatively pure in their presentation and matched by the first clear hat line in its over 7-minute runtime. Blissful & moreish.

'Variance Model' releases in full next Thursday, July 30.

Premiere: Edmond Wells - Wooden Room (Ruff Mix)

Ghoti makes his debut with two techno masterpieces. Iron Lung expands angular beats twisting and shaping physical dimensions of sound and rhythm as it pumps and breathes through a repetitive but evolving array of subtle sonic changes. Peter Grove offers a relentless version of Iron Lung that represents the shifting beats in a far less subtle array of sonic mayhem. Named after a residential street in Toronto, Neepawa takes an abstract mechanical rhythm and makes it something more primal, almost child-like in nature.

Originally released on 12" vinyl, this digital version now features 3 bonus tracks that round out Ghoti's abstract rhythmic concepts and conjure up early acid influences that emerge through a detailed mosaic of minimal techno.
