I was invited to hold the Play space at the Purim Spectacular Masquerade, hosted by the Loophole Collective in San Francisco, on Saturday March 4, 2023. It was my honor and my deep pleasure to do so. If you enjoyed "I-Robot Dubbit Hole" from 2018, you'll love how I re-imagined it specifically for this party.

And a couple days later, when I went to record it, I continued to fiddle with it and added 11 tracks that I didn't play that night - expanding it even further to the four-hour set presented for you here.

There is lots of slushy, squishy, slithery and sexy Magik to experience, perfect for cuddling, canoodling, dancing, spanking, flogging and other sensual deliciousness – and I dedicate this set to Ariel, my Gender Blending Purim Goddess, and to all the fierce, loving Gender Warriors who were quite actively engaged in that steamy play space. You gladden my heart to know the Trans Community will never give up fighting for our lives, our liberty and our pursuit of happiness. Remember, it’s all about the bass, baby. Fuzzy Wuzzy and totally unpredictable, and yet fascinatingly logical in a weird twisted sort of way. This Journey has been rattling around my noggin (or, at least some iteration of my brainpan somewhere or somewhen - our own island kind of thing) - anyway, pondering,  wondering if I could do it, how i would get there, and with what. And so...I created this set for your own meditative delving into the mysteries and mystics of self awareness and the stuff dreams and stardust are made of. Be sure to go barefoot to feel connected or grounded, hold hands if needs be, cuddle up when necessary, let loose and fly if/when/and/or the beat or the flow grabs, encircles, envelopes you - Do and/or do not. One night, I had a dream…

I dreamed I was a man laying in bed. I would get so aggro, hard and insistent. A very disagreeable feeling (no offense guys). Then I dreamed I was a woman, and i would get so creamy, wet and equally insistent. That felt a bit better, like I was flying, more in control, happier. A past life? Fate? Destiny? Karma? A decision must’ve been made…surely? Who the fuck knows?

Later, I dreamed I was somewhere in between, and when I woke up, found out that it wasn’t a dream at all. Shit. Reality is such a bitch.

Sometimes I daydream that it’s finally all over and I’m somewhere else, or some when else, I cannot say. There are no words…

Possibilities. Choices. Fears. Desires. Experiences. Perspectives. Sights. Scents. Sounds. Harmonies. Dissonance. Memories. Visions. Ecstasy. Regrets. Despair. Pain. Heartbreaks. Loves. Legacies. Joys. Dancing. Laughter. Tears. Release. Forgiveness. Acceptance. Peace.

And then I dreamt this is where and when I am meant to be. 

And that must mean, you are where and when you’re meant to be.

Inspired by the luscious vocals of the original track, I decided to opt for a more gentle, chilled-out vibe for this remix. Throughout the process my head kept trying to make the tune "more bangin" or "more psychedelic" but my heart kept telling me to just dial it back, be vulnerable, let the vocals set the mood and the tone, and don't try to force it into something it doesn't want to be.

A dear friend told me my sets felt like you never knew where you're going, but were always happy when you got there. As a Groove Guardian, I could not ask for higher praise.

Music is a special language I have experienced, practiced and absorbed my entire life. And now in my "Golden Years", I practice this complex craft using the simplest of tools and as little FX as possible. Less is so much more. I avoid artificially contrived tension and release, and prefer to let music express what is already inherent; if it works, don't fix it.

My Dad was a Choir and Music Director. I grew up listening to him playing the piano every day. He started me singing at age 7 (1963). By 1968, I was collecting first-issue releases from the Turtles and the Beatles. I graduated High School in 1974, and  was programming house party mix tapes on cassette tape. Of course it was very linear, but even then I was thinking outside the box. With the advent of DAW’s, it’s a whole new world!

Today, it’s about inspiring and uplifting people through music's universal language. It’s about feelings and passion using an eclectic mix of genres and styles, new, old, obscure and popular. I want to set free your heart, your mind and your body. Burning Man and Sweets Ballroom have irrevocably altered my musical DNA. The new, expanding universe of Ecstatic Dance journeys feels like a natural fit, and I incorporate its tenants into every set I create.
