[O413022] - Matthias Springer - The Coventry Trial

I'm an electronic musician based in Copenhagen, with a great passion for developing electronic instruments and interactive musical systems. In my work I explore the intersections between sonic, visual and physical media spanning multimedia installations, instrument design, music production, DJing and lighting design.

My musical journey began in Rome, where I took my first steps in the local underground scene, producing music and djing. I then moved to Berlin to expand my creative horizons; it was a key period, that saw the release of 𝑬𝒍𝒆𝒌𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒅𝒔 and 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒊 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝒊𝒏 𝑻𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆, and the birth of my alias project 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆 𝑰𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒆.

In my musical practice, I focus on creating immersive sonic landscapes, enriched by intricate beats, not only crafting a rich auditory environment but also guiding the listener through a continuous, carefully structured journey. By allowing tracks to flow into each other and sounds to recur and evolve throughout the compositions, I emphasize a sense of interconnectedness, making the music feel like an organic whole rather than a collection of separate pieces. Through my music, I explore the tension between the aesthetic nature of art, my worldview, and my relationship with spirituality, using sound as a form of dialogue to express, reflect, and potentially resolve these inner conflicts. My desire is to engage the listener on multiple levels of perception and cognition - mentally, emotionally, and physically, by creating a framework that allows listeners to enter a more reflective or meditative state, inviting them to connect with their inner selves. 
My creative process spans a broad range of techniques, from sound design on hardware instruments, to manipulation of field recordings and found sounds, recordings of acoustic instruments, experiments with the voice and creative coding.
