Emerging from the Reading music scene in Pennsylvania, Hip Hop recording artist Hollyhood Tay began hitting the ground running in the music realm when she recorded her first song at the age of 12, and since then has manifested into a versatile and multifaceted artist with her own signature sound and stylization, and has no intention of slowing down her momentum anytime soon.
Born in Newark, NJ, Tay’s legacy in music started from an early age and developed into an authentically self-taught songwriter, producer and performer that expressed her struggles through music. Known for her charismatic rhyming techniques and dynamic lyrical approach, Tay’s music touches on equal parts originality and familiarity; giving every fan and music listener a balance between an old school sound and today’s mainstream sensibilities. Her music is also reminiscent of personal artist influences, especially industry heavyweight Tupac, an artist her stepfather introduced to her during her pre-teen years that resonated lyrically with Tay’s life at the time that had many trials and tribulations. This set the groundwork for Tay to overcome her odds, make changes in her life to grow into a more positive environment, and ultimately became a cornerstone to her aspirations in music of becoming the artist she is today.
Now at the age of 24, Hollyhood Tay has generated an insatiable street buzz and internet presence; currently with an Instagram fan base of over 11k followers. She also posts freestyles every week. Over the last 5 years, the rising female hip hop artist also taught herself the art of audio production and has been making beats, recording/writing her own music, as well as taking on the mixing and mastering stages in post production. Her cousin, who is also a recording artist, has also played a big role in Tay’s music career; including the production of her first track.
