Born and raised in the “Motor City” Detroit, MI, Mike Thom is an up and coming emcee who’s music is obviously influenced by the well know Motown sound. Mike Thom began his musical journey singing in the church choir. He started writing poetry at the age of nine but, instantly fell in love with hip hop after hearing Detroit’s Most Wanted a local rap group from his home town. He also accredits his cousin a local DJ/Emcee from Tulsa, Oklahoma after hearing his independent album 2.1.2. For No Reason while at a family reunion back in 1992. “I was amazed in seeing people so close to me create the music that I wanted to create, it was that moment I knew this is what I wanted to do. His other musical influences Notorious B.I.G., Nas, and Stevie Wonder made him hone his knack for storytelling. Mike Thom is currently working on his debut album Mezzanine Music which does not have a release date as of yet. In the meantime fans can look forward to the appetizer Mezzanine Music .5 due to be released 10-14-17 on all streaming platforms. “I’m just trying to change the hip hop game and the way that it’s being portrayed.” We look forward to big things from Mike Thom in the near future.
