Midnight Transit – Die Reise beginnt um Mitternacht

In einer schlafenden Stadt, deren Lichter wie vergessene Sterne am Horizont glimmen, steigt eine junge Frau in einen fast leeren Zug. Der letzte Transit des Tages. Niemand weiß, wohin sie fährt – nicht einmal sie selbst. Der Zug bewegt sich durch Tunnel aus Erinnerungen, vorbei an Stationen, die wie Kapitel ihres Lebens heißen: Verlust, Sehnsucht, Neubeginn.

Der Rhythmus des Zuges vermischt sich mit der Musik in ihren Kopfhörern – dein Track. Basslinien wie Herzschläge, Synths wie Gedankenfetzen.

Jeder Waggon, den sie durchquert, enthält einen anderen Traum. In einem tanzen Menschen durch Neon-Nebel, in einem anderen blickt ein alter Mann aus dem Fenster und erzählt ihr Geschichten, ohne zu sprechen.

Die Fahrt ist keine Flucht, sondern eine stille Suche nach dem Ort, an dem die Seele zur Ruhe kommt. Und irgendwann, am Rand der Nacht, bremst der Zug. Die Türen öffnen sich.

Sie steigt aus – nicht an einer Station, sondern in einem Moment der Klarheit. Die Sonne ist noch nicht aufgegangen, aber die Dunkelheit hat ihren Glanz verloren.

BSV: Hey buddy, how is the rhythm of your day playing so far?
DALKIO: Pretty hectic, to be honest. But it’s that good kind of hustle, you know… Between the studio, a few meetings, and a strong coffee in the afternoon. When there’s music involved, everything just flows better.

BSV: A few of our upcoming releases will carry your name as the composer - Marlon Dalavechia. Feels exciting, doesn’t it?       
DALKIO: Definitely! It’s really rewarding to see my name on something I truly believe in and built with care. I’ve always had a personal connection with every sound I create, so seeing it out there is a unique feeling.

BSV: Tell us more about your connection with Eduardo Drumn. Are you often together in the studio?
DALKIO: Yes! Edu is like a brother. We connect really well both musically and personally. We have a similar vibe in the studio and a lot of mutual respect for each other’s creative space, so good things always happen when we work together.

BSV: Is there some kind of introspection when it comes to your production? We are just curious… 😉
DALKIO: Absolutely. Producing is almost like a therapy for me. A lot of times I start a track just trying to express something I can’t even explain. And during the process, I end up understanding more about myself.

BSV: Do you have idols or a referent sound that you always wanted to merge into your wavs?    
DALKIO: So many! I listen to all kinds of music, but I’ve always had a thing for artists like Four Tet, Bonobo, and more recently, Âme. I really love that mix of organic textures with electronic beats. I try to bring a bit of that into my own sound.

BSV: If you can describe one of your days without music in it, what kind of day would that be?
DALKIO: Kind of gray, to be honest. I think music is in everything I do, even when I don’t notice it. A day without music would be too quiet, maybe too introspective. I’d probably end up putting on a soundtrack at some point, even if just in my headphones.

BSV: What’s the story behind your artist name?
DALKIO: It’s a play on my last name, Dalavechia, mixed with a kind of futuristic vibe I’ve always liked. I wanted something that sounds electronic but still has a unique identity. Dalkio came naturally after a few weird attempts.

Introduction in English:

People often tell me that when they are with a loved one who is about to die, they feel particularly close to them. 
Sometimes, in such moments, the history of their relationship flashes before their eyes. 
Some report reaching a deeper peace with the person in question shortly before their death. Often, the dying say things they have never been able to say in their lifetime. For example, a father who, shortly before his death, is able to tell his daughter for the first and only time that he has always loved her.
Many of those left behind tell me that they did not want to let the dying person go, but that they somehow realized that they had to let go of their loved one so that they could pass away as peacefully as possible; that they could not “die with them,” but had to continue living alone. 
And it is not uncommon for those who are approaching death to tell their accompanying relatives that they should continue to live well and in peace.
All of these stories inspired me to write the song “Mourir (Dying).” And as always, for such fundamental existential experiences, I choose the language that best expresses these radical moments of transition: French.

BSV: Hello Srdjan! We first crossed paths almost ten years ago during a remix competition for one of your releases. Looking back now, how do you reflect on that moment and the journey since then?       
THIAN: It has certainly been a long journey. In the meantime, I became a father, and many aspects of my life changed. Musically, however, I remained very active. I worked on numerous projects, performed at gigs, released music, and collaborated with different artists. At that time, I had already been involved in music for more than 15 years, with a primary focus on DJ-ing. Parallel to this, I co-founded a record label - @insteadrec together with my friend Carsten aka @thane-percu. Through the label, we had the opportunity to collaborate with many artists, including yourself. I was also having my resident night - Thian & Friends at various locations, and was actively involved with the Berlin collective Synthesis, where we organized projects and events and produced remixes for some of the most respected names in the scene, such as @samuel-l-session and @funkdvoid. In addition, I worked on an official remix for @dave-the-drummer for another German label, which will soon be out. Looking back, I never would have imagined things would progress as far as they have.

BSV: We’ve heard that, once upon a time, you were a passionate skateboarder. How has that experience shaped or influenced your path in electronic music?
THIAN: I essentially grew up as a skateboarder. Instead of spending time at home, we gathered at Mimara, a well-known spot in Zagreb. Skateboarding was never just a sport, it was a lifestyle, a community, and a way of seeing the world. We traveled to neighboring countries for contests and explored different skateparks as teenagers. Skateboarding taught me a DIY approach to life, and that mindset continues to help me today, especially when I was organizing my first parties, where improvisation was often necessary. Many skateboarders eventually move into creative fields such as music and visual arts. My first release was with Ishek, a drummer and a friend from my skateboarding days. When you dedicate yourself so deeply to something while growing up, it becomes an inseparable part of who you are.

BSV: Is it true that back in the days, you had to disassemble a gramophone, piece by piece, at the border in order to carry it across?
THIAN: That’s absolutely true. When I was growing up in Croatia, the EU was much smaller, and my country wasn’t yet a member. To get better prices on vinyl records and music equipment, we often traveled to Germany or Austria and smuggled things back home. I usually hid items under the front seats and did my best to look confident when crossing the border, especially if officers asked if I had anything to declare. Luckily, I never got caught, thanks to my “acting skills,” I guess.

BSV: A lot of experience behind you. Tell us a little bit more about your early beginnings in DJ-ing. 
THIAN: My DJ career began when my skateboarding journey came to an end. Around 1994, after competing in a contest in Budapest, I returned to Croatia feeling disappointed by how far behind our skateboarding scene was compared to theirs. That loss of motivation coincided with my growing passion for music. Even while skateboarding, a few of us had tried forming a band and held some jam sessions, though nothing serious came of it. I'm Michael Gogol, a German musician whose journey began after meeting Klaus Schulze in my hometown. Since then, I've explored the world of synthesizers and collaborated internationally, including with Neil W. Young. My work has earned awards like the IAIA Golden Kayak and festival honors. My sound: atmospheric, introspective, timeless.
