Belfast four-piece Girls Names released their critically acclaimed second album, The New Life, in February and it marked a new direction for the band altogether. That directional shift is emphasized even further by Gabe Gurnsey from Factory Floor, who has remixed album track 'Projektions', adding FF's characteristic dance floor focus to Girls Names' motorik groove.

The track is taken from forthcoming EP, The Next Life,  a collection of remixes that will be released later this year on Tough Love (Europe) and Slumberland (US). Alongside Factory Floor will be interpretations of tracks taken from the album by David Holmes, Locust, The Soft Walls and Optimo.

Klartraum - Diving Dancer (Ian Pooley Remix)

It's early days yet, but things are going well for the London-based trio FACTORY FLOOR: Nik Colk (guitar/vocals/electronics), Gabe Gurnsey (drums/ electronics) and Dom Butler (electronics/vocals). And Optimo Music are in the unique position of doing a remix for Factory Floor and having a exclusive single release for it. 

“~ (R E A L  L O V E)” An Optimo (Espacio) Mix is already getting attention from James Holden, The Quietus, and it was only mastered about a fortnight ago. The Optimo (Espacio) mix was made at the behest of Factory Floor an was done by Optimo music head honcho JD Twitch alongside his sometime collaborator Dave Clark.

Stephen Morris, the drummer and rhythm king for music legends Joy Division & New Order produced the original version and continues to work with the band on remixes and new tracks. 

Both tracks will be released as a 12" single on 6th April 2011.

Defunct monitor speakers. An erratic record player. Somewhat hazardous was the setting under which this mix was recorded earlier this year in Calvi on Corsica. Aksel Schaufler aka Superpitcher must have had a lot of fun though, as we were immediately hooked by this quasi-archetypal Kompakt mix. Yes, it took a while to make this happen and happily it did happen: Many thanks to Chrigu from Kompakt for setting this up. And cheers to Aksel for being such a suave musician.
