Weaving the story of a lighthouse keeper overseeing a shipping lane
infamously named the “Eye Of The Needle” from his outlook at 
Cape Otway, the latest from Blue Child Collective is a hooky roots-reggae tune featuring guest vocals from Shannon Sol Carroll, frontman and salty seadog of Sunshine Coast favourites Band Of Frequencies.

Accompanied by a cinematic music video by David Owen Blackley
shot on the stormy South West tip of Australia, and 
featuring work from Dutch animator Chris Liefting, the video recreates
a world existing from the treacherous art of navigation, and a
lighthouse keeper sent stir crazy by the sight of it.

Featuring Bobby Alu on drums, OJ Newcomb (Afro Dizzi Act) on bass, Ken Allars (Caravana Sun) on trumpet and PaulieB (The Beautiful Girls) on keys/percussion, this is a tune with groove.

ISLANDS was written last winter on a freezing cold February day during a heavy snowfall at home. After spending the day roaming around soft blankets of white , I found refuge inside with a warming mug of tea and a seat in front of my piano.
As I sat in peace for the first time in a little while, I began to write, as lyrics poured from my thoughts and onto paper; I thought about our vast and unique planet and the beautiful inhabitants in it. I thought about the troubles and pain that we all face together. I thought about the peace we need to make with one another. I thought about the climate crisis.
I dug deep into my emotions to reflect on the way we lead our lives. Sure it’s easy to party, travel, work, or run away from the present moment, but I’ve come to realize that this moment is so precious and sacred that it deserves our full undivided attention. Everything can change so rapidly without us even noticing and to say the least, I want to change my mindset and settle into the happiness and beauty that lays right in front of my eyes. To appreciate the moments I have on this earth, free of distractions.
Islands has evolved and taken on many new paths which I am so humbled and proud of. It is my peaceful pledge to lead a happy, simple, and sustainable life.
