in recognition of mental health awareness week..............the blues parade has often passed my way.........peace & cheers for having a listen........



hear that rumble over the hill
shaking the glass from the window sills 
hide the money and lock the tills
here comes the blue parade

in the distance hear that noise
no need to be alarmed there boys
just keep it straight and hold your course
it's just the blue parade

it'll start real early, break of dawn
won't get much sleep from the night before
better nail down the shutters and deck the halls

well my mind mightn't know what's goin on
but my ears are tuned to the pipers song
hands get sweaty yea it won't take long
here comes the blue parade

you might meet someone, head hung low
not much to say nowhere to go
together you can try and mend your souls
among the blue parade

you might be strangers when you start 
when the dust settles you'll never part
cos you made a pact with the bleeding hearts

Fossils in the Making - Lyrics

Some billion years ago
a curious random flow
of molecules ignited what we now know as life

life went on to disperse
grew violently diverse
and crept and swam and blossomed into each niche of earth

a myriad creatures grew
and each one looked out to
eternal thriving for their species 
little they knew

that all comes to an end
when time was ripe, they went
into oblivion - just the fossils 
hold the memory of them
And suddenly some strange new creature 
starts to enter the scene 
the age of humans begun
They seem to have developed 
some remarkable features 
their intellect matched by none

With their collective mind
They could find the spell to bind 
The curse of certain extinction
for their kin and their kind 

With their joint intellect 
With humble due respect
They might protect themselves from vanishing
But they don’t seem to mind



We spy into the cosmos with our Hubbles and Webbs
but all we manage to hear ...
... is nothing .... but the menacing sound of pure silence 

out there are a zillion worlds 
older by eons than ours 
that should host 
a wealth of civilizations 
… Where are you?
…. Where have you gone?

The web of life emerges, 
occasionally it purges
And rips out nearly all the pages from its thick book
Life fades at rapid rate.  
Are we next on the slate?
Is perish our fate?  
Our odds don’t look good

Mother nature is not kind 
She does not really mind
Whether the human race will live tomorrow
No time to borrow

We’re fossils in the making
Gaia’s taking her toll 
We could have had it all
… we might have had in it in our hands
... I guess, we barely stood a chance

On free é um funk inspirado em Tim Maia, um dos maiores artistas brasileiros. Trás na letra uma homenagem a liberdade do ser, em detrimento ao status quo, a posse e ao dinheiro. "De nada adianta, seus tantos milhões, vivendo entre muros, trancando portões." é um alerta para não nos acostumarmos a viver trancados para termos paz. Faz também uma homenagem ao clássico do Tim Maia 'Rational Culture'.

Onfree

This one started as attempt to do some abstract pop. It evolved into a place somewhere between pop and jazz, at least to me. There was a time in the late sixties where the harmonic language I use here developed. Songs like Being Alive, by Sondheim, Wichita Lineman, by Jimmy Webb and others used a combination of 6th's 11th's 9's and suspended cords to create this floating feeling. It's basically some version of stacking 5th's, harmonically. I'm generally a thirds guy. A big third sounds so good on a bass, think "Walk On The Wild Side". Daphnis et Chloé Suite n°2, by Ravel, most of Jobin's work and Giant Steps, by Coltrane would be mastery of stacking thirds, in my opinion. In fact Daphnis et Chloé, Suite n°2 is one of my favorites and one that dazzles me still. It's funny though. Because this type of approach, the 5th's I mean, in popular music, was only prominent in the late sixties to mid seventies I tie it emotionally to childhood. I was born in 1968. I could go on but I think that's enough. Thanks for listening and indulging my thoughts.

Painted In Pastels

This is my 'small' gentle version of my song 'No Enemy'. It's got just two guitars, vocals, slapped knees, and a blackbird singing.

It's a peaceful song about someone who spent years full of hate. When the hate fades they feel empty, because all that hating had kept them entertained. But, in the song the scary emptiness the person feels is beautiful and full of possibilities.

Composer of guitar instrumentals from Australia, producng music & film from the home studio in my spare time purely for enjoyment.

Inspired by some of the guitar greats & instrumental bands from the 60's and 70's era. 
I produce mostly original instrumental guitar tracks. a few covers & tributes, and involved in the odd collaboration.
