فى سفر التكوين أصحاح 50
و الذي يروى لنا قصة دفن يعقوب بواسطة الفراعنة و المصريون القدماء

حيث يرد ذكر مناحة المصريون على يعقوب أبو يوسف
و يعتقد البعض أن اللحن تم تأليفه فى هذا الموضع
و من يركز فى النغمة يجدها تقترب من هذا المعنى كثيراً
يقول الكتاب المقدس :
"  و ناحوا هناك نوحا عظيما و شديدا جدا و صنع لابيه مناحة سبعة ايام.
 11- فلما راى اهل البلاد الكنعانيون المناحة في بيدر اطاد قالوا هذه مناحة ثقيلة للمصريين لذلك دعي اسمه ابل مصرايم الذي في عبر الاردن."
