This is Mincha (AKA Tom Marghem) with his debut EP 'Farewell Fair Enough' released via Trapdoor Records. The Re-fix is our 2nd installment of the SmokeBreak series. The music on the Re-fix is centered around perspective. In visual art perspective distortion is a warping or transformation of an object and its surrounding area that differs significantly from what the object appears to be normally. In the case of music production a sample beat in itself can be viewed as a distorted version of an original record. This tape is full of re interpitations of orginal records and sounds that we feel are progressiing music production in the urban contemporary genre. The concept is seeing through others eyes to create art. For us the project has posed a question... How much as artists can we distort and explore?? and what does this exploration sound like??
