We're kicking November off with a mix from California-born DJ and producer P Relief, who has recorded 60+ minutes of blissful electronics for Theory Therapy 45. 

This mix aims straight at your dopamine receptors; at least for us it does. Ambient pads, breakbeats, dubbed-out drums—it’s such a good example of the range that Parker consistently brings to his sets. It weaves between a bunch of different styles and sub-genres but even with all the twists and turns, the Berlin-based DJ has carefully constructed a coherent vibe and as usual, the selections are absolutely on point. We’ll be listening to this one a lot over the Aussie summer, thanks Parker <3

Cascade and The Deluge are variations on the latest tape-loop and delay composition from the inimitable William Basinski. Cascade is the CD/Digital variant, and The Deluge is the deluxe 180 gram white vinyl LP companion. In Cascade, a single ancient lilting piano tape loop repeats endlessly carrying one along in its tessellating current. In The Deluge, the same loop is processed through a series of feedback loops of different lengths, creating a spiraling crescendo of overtones that eventually fades away to silence. In the denouement, a series of limpid piano loops leads to an urgent orchestral theme that builds and gradually dies.

Spending hours, days, months, etc., crafting a collage of samples into a cohesive piece of new music is awesome art, and one Shawn Wasabi (@sssshawnnnn) is quickly becoming a master at. Aside from creating new melodic themes from found fragments of hundreds of different songs, he also performs and records each work live. You may have seen one of Shawn’s many multi-million breaking Youtube videos, but not many know these are each performed in one take. The kid’s a legend, and he’s one of the first to be pushing a cute, bubbly and hyper sound to a bigger audience in the states. We’re stoked to be sharing Shawn’s NEST HQ MiniMix with y’all today.
