to try and stave off music block i was working on covers of dark world from LTTP and launch base zone from sonic 3 at the same time. at a certain point i realized the songs sound kind of similar to each other and might be fun to put together. love doing these mashup covers, always a fun exercise. 

i know i havent posted a song in like 5 months, and i assure you that is because ive been extremely busy doing the absolute bare minimum of college work, playing dark souls, and brooding as i take lonely walks around the city, like tyler durden or batman or some shit.

I was inspired by Umemoto's work, so I tried a li'l something. I was also trying out a technique where I layered two sounds together, so I tried doing an FM brass + FM tubbell combo here. It turned out better than I expected!

This was largely inspired by old crazy DnB programming, but I wanted to add my own twist to it by doing it on an SPC700. Fitting 26 samples(!) into 38KB feels like magic wizardry, and then managing to get a full 5 minute song going on that poor machine was brutal. But I am certain the results paid off, and am in love with this song.

This was made entirely with the Star Fox SNES soundfont except for the cymbals.
It goes a bit beyond the SNES's capabilities, with more than eight channels and some reverb used!
