I've always loved the Ray Charles version of this song (written by Eddy Arnold and Cindy Walker). This cover version was originally recorded for the Tools of the Trade sessions last year. We recorded a few extra songs and I'm just getting around to finishing them off. Phil Santilli on drums, John Short on bass, Duane Wagner on organ and piano, and I'm playing the guitars (my Gibson ES-339 and a lap steel).

Before the blues became electric, way back in the delta, in Georgia, in Texas and all over the southern states of the US the blues was acoustic. The sound of vocals, harp and guitars was the sound of the blues! Sonny Boy Williamson playing with Robert Johnson on the night Johnson was poisoned; Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee....that was the sound when it started. Now, in an era when the blues is dominated by electric guitars The Bourbon Words are looking to take this music back home.....simple but powerful blues music.

I am a working full-time musician, teaching, performing, composing, recording and arranging, and my gigs in the last few years have included jazz combo, big band jazz, folk, Irish traditional, rock, soul, latin, klezmer, funk, orchestral, chamber, minimal techno, musical theatre and more, so, safe to say, I’ll have a go at anything. 

I'm a firm believer in demolishing boundaries between genres, cultures, languages and ultimately people, and Soundcloud is a terrific place where all this can happen.
