Drenched in synthesized post-punk, tough erotic rhythms and vocals echoing the dark pop of yesteryear, Savage Furs helm a ‘wave’ of their own, cutting a swath through the revivalist landscape with an infectious sound that is in equal turns sinister and endearing: the sound of pop futurism.

With the release of their debut 12” ep, London trio Savage Furs take the road less travelled. Although evocative of an era, their first recording sees them brandish a signature sound all of their own. Despite comprising elementally of influences vast and dear to them, from the electronic dance floor grasp of Depeche Mode or Sons And Fascination era Simple Minds to the more art rock tendencies of Bauhaus or Chrome, their music manages to effortlessly pull together a marriage of sound and vision with heartfelt originality.

Beneath the over-driven paranoia of ‘Thrones Of Young Ice’ lie vocal melodies and hooks that scintillate, whereas ‘Sick Lamborghini’ plays like a saxophone-tortured take on ‘The Reflex’, the chorus projecting upwards from the textured plates of noise. The animalism of ‘Mohair Metal’ is a cajoling force, the guitar is elegant, the rhythmic propulsion like a conveyor belt. ‘Asphalt Sorcery’ closes as a surreal ode to Grace Jones, it’s transcendence of pulses revolting against smooth vocals and celestial synths.

CONTEXT: New-Berliner Peter Broderick has established himself as a composer in his own right, may it be as a touring member in Efterklang, collaborating with label mates Nils Frahm and Dustin O’Halloran, or most recently, working on the Last Night soundtrack with Clint Mansell. His innate gift as a musical medium, picking up any instrument to turn his musings into songs, has won the 24-year old American composer many hearts worldwide.

Following on from his contemporary dance scores Music For Falling From Trees and Music For Congregation, November 28th, 2011 will see Broderick return with a brand new work released on Erased Tapes Records, entitled Music For Confluence. Created for documentary filmmakers Jennifer Anderson and Vernon Lott, the soundtrack takes the listener through waves of stark emotions.

The release of Music For Confluence will be preceded by the double A-side single Old Time / Solace In Gala on November 7th and includes an exclusive digital 14-track bonus score entitled Music For Grace And Mercy – a film of Haitians helping Haitians.

            Fink returns to tantalise your eardrums this Summer with lead single and title track from his brand new album, “Sort of Revolution”. As if the original wasn’t already an effortlessly classy, subtle and moving piece of work, Fink has enlisted label-mate Jason Swinscoe for a rare-as-hen’s-teeth Cinematic Orchestra remix. The single, available as a digital only bundle, also includes a genius spaced-out Dub remix from Sideshow, and yet another perfect piece of songwriting, delivery, and production from Fink in exclusive bonus track “Don’t Look Down”. 
            
            Fin Greenall, aka Fink, is among the more understated of the world's 'singer-songwriters', relying on uncompromising quality of work and an astounding stage presence, rather than major label marketing budgets. Swinscoe, likewise, is more keen on making music than chattering about it in the press. His career has, nevertheless, attracted superlatives from the outset, and includes collaborations with the likes of Fontella Bass and Roots Manuva, the re-soundtracking of Dziga Vertov’s classic “Man With A Movie Camera,” and a sell-out show at the Royal Albert Hall last year. Fink - 'See It All'

Fink returns with the second single from his 3rd album of his Ninja Tune Records trilogy, “Sort of Revolution.” 

“See It All,” one of the album’s signature tracks, is blessed with falling piano lines, pulsing electric bass, and a driving rhythm which combines relentless propulsion with sublime subtlety. “Q&A” finds Fink in a deeply soulful and moody a cappella, building a tune from his own vocal parts - layers of harmony buzzing through your ears, as warm and rich as it is clever and hypnotic. Both of these tracks were recently recorded live on Fink’s latest Gilles Peterson Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 1, while the LP version of “See It All” has just been confirmed as the opening track on the season premiere on the longstanding and now infamous TV show CSI:NY. 

Remixes come from D*L*I*D (fresh from their stunning remix of Phoenix's "1901" single, this remix is only their second!), Emika (Ninja Tune's latest signing, bringing Berlin heaviness to the table), and Fink’s dub alter-ego, Sideshow (critically lauded and internationally sharing 12's with Martyn, remixing Appleblim, and releasing albums on Aus Music). D*L*I*D channels the spirit of J-Dilla, turning the original into a super-heavy head-nodder. Label-mate Emika turns the original into a dark and brooding epic that builds towards a huge finale – a la Massive Attack with serious skunk-paranoia. Sideshow once again showcases Fink’s production cred with an echo box and compression chamber, skillfully stripping the parts and fitting them together into brand new shapes.

A master lyricist and in-demand songwriter, having most recently co-written with John Legend for Legend’s ‘Evolver’ LP as well as two of Ninja Tune’s latest signings: Andreya Triana and Emika. Currently touring the UK with band mates Guy Whittaker on bass and Tim Thornton on drums, Fink is as hectic as ever with a tour of France throughout October; November spent in China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam; the USA in December; and Australia (including 3 headline evenings at the Sydney Festival) and Japan in January.
