Comedians Chris Spencer, Al Madrigal and Maz Jobrani all have kids. They also have wonderful wives, friends and neighbors who sometimes drive them to the brink of insanity. If it matters, none of them own a minivan - which doesn’t mean they don’t necessarily want one. Enjoy.

Embedded within LaCore’s alt-rock output are influences that traverse the last three decades. It’s difficult to pinpoint specific sources, although most prominent are the sounds that emerged from New York in the early aughts, an imprint that Jeff Thompson, producer, songwriter and vocalist for LaCore, wears on his sleeve in bold colors.

Touring the world as a front of house engineer before the pandemic, Thompson is now submitting his years of collaborative efforts that trail the American West Coast, transitioning to front man and garnering his friends along the way.

In return, we get one sonic bust after another, deconstructed, reconfigured and dressed up for the occasion on a hard-hitting debut EP. "I'm confined from 9 to 5, I think of fireflies." Thompson ponders across a guitar heavy soundscape in a declaration against the responsibilities of adultness. “In your superstition, you drown inside the well that granted you your only wish. Come on get out of my head!” repeated over clangs and shreds, unveiling the egotistical battles that can drive two people apart.

Rounding out the lineup in this California based four-piece are Mihailo Lukic (guitar), Dan Kashuck (drums), and Michael Carlito (guitar). The bands debut EP, Popularity Wins, is available on the major streaming platforms May 13, 2021.

alt-J are Joe Newman, Gus Unger-Hamilton and Thom Green. They returned in 2022 with their latest album, The Dream.  

alt-J are one of the most successful British bands of the millennium. Their 2012 Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello Award-winning debut An Awesome Wave, was followed two years later by their number one, GRAMMY and BRIT Award-nominated album This Is All Yours. Released in 2017, RELAXER flew straight into the top 10 of the UK album chart ahead of a summer of major international shows - including a headline show at London’s O2 Arena and headline performances at numerous festivals - and became their second album to be nominated for the Mercury Prize.
