About the guests

@mandai - This bad gyal has been a long-time staple in Vancouver's underground bass scene for over a decade. She started out by spending countless hours digging elbow-deep in crates of 45s in Canada, the US and Jamaica. Her finely curated sets landed her behind the decks continuously and firmly solidified her as a member of Vancouver's notorious LIGHTA! crew. She is well-known for her legendary mixes, some being all-vinyl releases, her true love. Blending reggae/dancehall with bass/rap/RnB/grime, her musical repertoire is expansive and fresh. A regular at Bass Coast, she also graced stages at Shambhala, Diversity and her family-run festival The Field. She rocked the Thunder Stage at LIB and made ripples at the Moon Stage at the Oregon Eclipse when she covered for Om Unit.

@mzrevolution - Spinning, throwing jams and running borders since 2000, Mz. Revolution brings the wikkidest sound to the massive. Keeping her selection fresh, her sets span bass music genres including jungle, jungle-footwork, dnb and uk funky.

Mz. Rev started DJing and promoting in Ottawa in the early 2000s. She held down Ottawa's Chicks with Decks and was the main organizer of Ottawa's original graffiti art parties, Beatz and Piecez. Beyond rave and club gigs, she played graffiti jams, rock climbing competitions, protests, rooftop parties and was resident DJ for Carleton University's vegan soup kitchen, the Garden Spot.

definitely guided by the room for this one. it had be more straight up and dancey, then it had to dip down, then dip back up, and also get a bit hypnotic eyes down at one point, and back again. ..save for the climax at the end. beautiful energy. star energy. beautiful.

i was asked to play a chill opening set and this is what i came thru with. listening back to this mix actually brings me back a bit to the beginnings of how & why i got into djing in the first place. it feels like a more classic style where you can really hear the layering and what's going on. a bit more straight up and simple.

i figured since i've taken forever to release other bass coast sets before -> i'm releasing this one *right away*. jungle in the center, with a healthy amount of sidequests. thanks to each and everyone who showed up. i see you all.

a few tech slips happened like my dub siren (monotron) not working and the third cdj not working right as i started (tech folks, who were excellent, swapped it out immediately tho), ..and that made me not want to touch the mic like i would have and switched what kind of selections i made a bit too. i am *GOOD* with what i did tho and i feel a true 90's jungle spirit in some moments of the recording (which is one of the things that i was aiming at - so mission accomplished).

Marley Schwartz has Music running through his veins. Influenced heavily by Reggae as a child, Marley started to grow a passion for Hip-Hop. TF Marz loads this mix with all of his favorite hip-hop tracks of the year. He used the lyrics to tell a story of a year gone wrong and the optimistic view of the future. This mix is a reflection the past year. Couldn’t be happier to host a piece of art that is so heavily infused with meaning. I really enjoyed getting to know Marley after the mix.
