A binaural soundscape featuring several Swainson's Thrushes singing in Subalpine Fir near Baldy Mountain to the east of Oliver in the Okanagon Valley of British Columbia.  Recorded 7:20am, 28 June 2017.

This beautiful soundscape also includes the rush of a mountain brook (left channel)and the gentle gurgling of a nearby freshet (right channel). Listen also for what I believe to be six nasal calls from a young mule deer (fawn), sounding off in the distance at 6:50 as it moved through the forest.

A long, cold and snowy winter is finally coming to an end. Just after dawn during a nocturnal unattended sound recording in an old forest. Black grouse is on the leks, and the voices of overflying Whooper swans can be heard. Chaffinches are migrating, and the local Willow tits have begun singing. Black and Great Spotted woodpeckers are drumming, but Ravens steal she show acoustically. Feels good to be alive.

Michael interviews Simone Moir, Registered Psychotherapist, on the precept of aparigraha (non-greed) and the practice of generosity. They discuss what comes up around possessiveness, addiction and obsession, embracing impermanence, the importance of relationship and knowing the importance of boundaries.

Generosity & Not Being Possessive

This field recording captures activity around the nesting location of a group of European Bee Eaters. The nests were located in the banks of the river Fiora. The mics and recorder were carefully placed and left to record over a long period so not to disturb the birds. In the background we can hear a Golden Oriole, Skylarks and European Blackcaps.
