My impression on Edgar Allan Poe's "Evening Star".


Once I felt as if this poem was saying about part of my life...

...but maybe it was just an illusion

Evening Star

'Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

Sometimes when I´m locked, not feeling the music I like to take a fixed something and just play around it. Thats what this improv is, right hand just keeping the beat (mostly fixed but some errors there :) ), and the left hand just doing melodic and harmonic stuff around it. 

Not my best work but kind of liked to do something tonight.

Demo for my next album, The Gramophone Suite, which will be released late 2018. The track will also feature on the Soundcolours compilation "Chilltronica No6"

The original Re is such a beautiful piece just the way it is. I was a little apprehensive attempting a rework of it, but found it irresistible. I had to do it. I feel I've created a delicate rework, as melancholic as the original with just a touch of what I love best; strings and soundscapes.
