Let your Consciousness Resonate with this Tone Poem,
for if it suggests anything, it's that 'There is Peace at Center, and Center is Everywhere'.  It's just a matter of becoming attuned with it. 

What you hear first in this composition represents the Cosmic Background Radiation even now remaining from what we understand as the moment of Creation, Big Bang.  It is present throughout the piece.
(This Vibrational Fingerprint of what occurred at the beginning and whose  'radiant energy' continue to resonate throughout this entire Universe and is still present today, was theorized years ago and then revealed by  measurements by NASA's C.O.B.E. satellite.  i.e  C.O.(smic) B.(ackground) E.(xplorer)>     

Yes... i know, it all sounds kinda 'New Agey' 😉 and... perhaps these liner notes could be so construed. But in this case, this music was born out of months of contemplation of a Huge life-manifested Zen Koan i came up against!  And what an opportunity to Compose! 😊

The Koan was " What is the Sound of Manifestation?  What is the SOUND of the Process of The Stuff of Life - Arising ? As it dances, and sparks New manifestations of substance throughout the universe - and then dissolves back into 'the vacuum' out of which it arose.

 What could 'that' sound like? 
Hmmmm. Impossible, yet tantalising.

No matter .. many have found that the peace they felt in resonating with whatever IT ultimately IS, is More than Enough to keep them totally interested. ;)

Cosmic Cycles

Well, this is the last part of this wonderful musical adventure. Then again, It is always a pleasure and an honor to do collaboration with my friend Fivos. I would also thank him for his generosity by sharing this opportunity of collaboration for this international event to the Soundcloud community. 

This outstanding and awesome song has been the most challenging arrangement of the three parts of Antinoos. This original track of this song was a perfect standalone piano performance like a Chopin nocturne.  Then when I added the strings and the French horns with a modern harmony it became (by accident  :) ) more in the style of Rachmaninoff: but it was not anough :)

So when somebody wants to impress the auditor , a man has to do what he has to do ;-) I used my secret weapon which is my teenage daughter (17 years old in 11 days).  I gave her all the necessary space to expose her full potential and … she took it all. It was a great daughter father experience: great quality time! I am proud of Charlotte and I feel is that  she has step up to an higher level in her playing! And you know what? She will continue her serious violin study next year at Gatineau conservatory! Cross my finger,hoping that she doesn’t change her mind! :)

Triptych of Love - Lamentation by Fivos Valachis, Violin Charlotte Martineau Arr. M Martineau

Tadoussac is a small village on the north of the St Laurent river. It is located at the conjecture of two huge river : the St Laurent river and the Saguenay river . This area is the sanctuary and the kingdom of the blue whales. At this area the river, we can almost say that it is the beginning of the Atlantic ocean and this area is full of plankton that the blue whales come to eat during the summer.

This song is the description of trip of "whales observation" of two hours on a boat. If I can give you some guideline while you are listening to have a kind of musical vision and let your brain do its job :)

First the piano is the surface of the water, the strings are (for most of the time) the ambiance of the boat while sailing on the sea, the bass is obviously representing the whales that are doing there snack trip (except for the ending theme, where the  bass clarinet and the clarinet are representing the whales) and finally, the clarinet solo is representing the excitation, astonishment and wonder of the people ( I know, sometime I am a bit too excited but so the people were :) )on board running all over the bridge of the boat trying to not miss anything of this fabulous and spectacular ballet performed by the whales.

I have composed this song about 10 years. It was one my first recording experience as a sound technicians so I would ask you to be compliant ! :)

A Swede inspired by Electrotango from Paris and Rio de La Plata, collaborating with musicians from Dubai and Sweden equals World music in a contemporary tango style, expressing passion in love and life.

This is my first collaboration in the last 10 months. I have start to play clarinet again. I am a bit rusted but as they say it is like bicycles. It will come with the time and the next collaborations. 

This being said, it always an honor for me to do a collaboration with Peter because he has great communication skills that make you comfortable that make you perform at your best.

Tango as always been one of my favorite style of music. So hope you enjoy it as much I did playing it.

This is the 10th tune coming from my 13 song suite called ''Celebrating life'' that I composed and interpreted by the last 4 months of 2012. As you know, I am reposting all these songs (only 3 left :) with a new guest collaborator and rename the suite ''Celebrating life with friends'' 

For this posting, I have two wonderful collaborators: Jamie Rhind and Michael Orzek and also known as Land of Orz . They are two brilliant musicians! Michael is a polyvalent guitarist which is very performant in the blues/rock/funk musical environment. Jamie is a superb Funk/blues/Jazz/Fusion keyboard player. I call him the funky man! :-))) As you might notice he is a very active collaborator on SC

Both have performed fantastic solos but I would like you to take a moment to focus on their rhythm section performance. You will see that they are in fusion with Band In A Box Basses and drums (I used three different basses and three different drums for this track! eheh!!!). Each of them is playing in sync with each other or playing in between each other!

Oh! Before I forgot, this is the first time that I organized a disorganized ending! So imagine a band which is playing this song very tight (which it is true in this song) then the drummer miss the ending break and suddenly all the musicians try one after the other to end the song (first the Michael, and the bassist) than the horns try to take the lead with a good ending but the pianist put his own ending with a weird chord… All that organized in purpose by me! :-)))

Here is the story behind this tune: 

Oxy is not the name of the bear!:-) It is the three first letter of one of the chemo medication called oxyloplatine (not a good word for a title). This medication had two very bad side effect: first, I could not approach any cold environment (I was not allowed to go in the fridge without mittens) or eat cold food and beverage ( bye bye White wine, Rosé, milk and Ice cream and so on… in July) 

But the worst side effect (especially for a clarinetist) was that I could not breathe properly! I was always out of breath, so much that my oncologist told me after examination (scan), I was developing a chemical pneumonia and if I do not stop this medication I could die! So I did not hesitate  and it was BYE BYE OXY with the result of BYE BYE BLUES! :-))) this is why my sonority a bit shaky on this original recording ;-)

 I hope you enjoy this song as much I did while doing this collaboration

A gentle power and a shimmering dream. An old wise ocean and a sweet youthful fantasia. Northern Lights and Eternal Rainbow. I am trying to find the right words to express it as I literally got lost when I touched The Giant and Una Corda. I was trapped in the fairy tale where elves are playing their magical harps in a Shimmering Forest.

Let Me Tell You A Story - Una Corda Fantasia - New Album and Open Collaboration!

It's been a while since I've written anything new. While working on some unfinished music I started experimenting with an octave effect. Suddenly I came up with a few different riffs and this track happened.

If you ever had the opportunity to communicate or know him, my meager description would not be sufficient but, Michel Martineau was an awesome clarinetist; talented songwriter and beautiful soul.  I will always remember our conversations and advice not only on music but on life.  Therefore, this song comes with an amalgam of emotions.  I had written this song specifically for Michel as he enjoyed performing Latin music.  In fact, if you listen to any of mine or his previous Latin pieces, you can almost hear him smiling.  Thus, with intent to not only mourn our loss of him, I want to use this song to celebrate his life.   

With his saxophone, Mr. Santi-Caballero Mendez agreed to be locum tenens in commemoration of Michel.  Mr. Santi-Caballero Mendéz, you have done a fine job and for this, I thank you.

In 2012, I was struck by a colon cancer and to overcome my feelings of vulnerability during my chemo treatments which ended last January 3, 2013, I composed a musical suite called Celebrating life that contains 13 pieces (one for each of the 12 treatments plus a virtual encore  :-) ) . In february 7, after a series of tests, my doctor declare me a cancer survival l!!

But you know, I had a life before :-)  So,  I would like to introduce myself briefly!

I started to play clarinet at 12 years old  (now I am 60). After being a self learner for 5 years, I studied clarinet at the Montreal Conservatory from 1970 to 73 (classical music was not for me). Then I started my jazz career  from 1974 to 1984. During that period of time, I produce 3 records (they were called LP at the time :-)  ). The peak of my jazz musician career was to win the Montreal International Jazz Festival contest 1984. Then … nothing … I stopped to play clarinet for 20 years… why? Too long to explain … I restarted to play clarinet in 2004… I am glad I did so. Now, I am a part time musicians playing just to enjoy it. I have started to do collaborations with some of the Soundcloud community member and I enjoyed very much the experience! Looking forward to do more colabs in a near future!

En 2012, j'ai été atteint par un cancer du colon et pour vaincre mon sentiment de vulnérabilité pendant mes traitements de chimio qui ont terminés 3 janvier 2013, j'ai composé cette suite musicale de 13 pièces musicales (une pour chacun des 12 traitements plus un rappel virtuel). Le 7 février 2013, suite à une série de test, mon médecin déclara que tout était revenu à la normale pour moi

Comme vous le savez, j’ai eu une autre vie avant :-). Alors, j’aimerais me présenter brièvement :

 J'ai commencé à jouer la clarinette à l'âge de 12 ans (maintenant je viens d’avoir 60 ans ). Après avoir été musicien autodidacte pendant 5 ans, je suis allé étudier la clarinette au Conservatoire de Montréal de 1970 à 73 (musique classique n'était pas pour moi). Puis j'ai commencé ma carrière de jazz au Canada de 1974 à 1984. Au cours de cette période de temps, j'ai enregistré 3 disques (ils étaient appelés LP à l’époque). Le point culminant de ma carrière de musicien de jazz a été de remporter le concours du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal  1983. 
Et après ... rien ... Je me suis arrêté de jouer la clarinette pendant 20 ans ... pourquoi? Trop long à expliquer ... Je recommençai à jouer la clarinette en 2004 ... Je suis très contant d’avoir recommencé. Maintenant, je suis un musicien à temps partiel qui jouent juste pour le plaisir de jouer. J'ai commencé à faire des collaborations avec  des membres de la communauté Soundcloud et j'ai beaucoup apprécié l'expérience! Au plaisir de faire plusieurs collaborations  dans un futur rapproché!

There's no doubt about it, Music animates my Soul, and as an enthusiastic student of Life and a passionate Improvisational Pianist &  Composer,  as far as I'm concerned,  our lives would be impoverished without it ! :)  Composing is all about 'Sharing the Joy, Passion and Angst' we experience in Life, as well as connecting up with Musicians and 'Creatives' worldwide. This makes it even more wonderful!  That willingness to engage in whatever way makes SC an ever-expanding Movable Feast that nourishes and inspires on so many levels. 

Music Communicates the Emotional and Informational Content and Context of Heart, Mind, Spirit, and Soul. And 'Letting it Flow' is 'Where Its At' as I hear it!  

Over the past few years since becoming part of the SoundCloud Family, my 'Joy in and Passion for' Creative Musical Expression has increased exponentially as has my appreciation of all the wonderfully passionate Musicians and Creatives worldwide who have devoted themselves to Letting It Take Form! 

Here's a bit of a bio, if anyone is interested.  

Somehow, my MUSE got my attention at a tender age. About the time I was completing my Royal Conservatory training. 

My memory being poorer than most, I began improvising in the passages I had forgotten. And while the audience seemed unaware, my teacher chastised me indulgently, saying, "it appears I have a budding composer on my hands"!  And thus began my Odyssey into the wonderful Vibrational world of Sound!:-) In-deed, I have been an ardent, attentive and appreciative acolyte of my Muse ever since. 

During the early 1970s I had the pleasure and honour of a three year friendship and Master Class with the then Octogenarian Composer Manoah Leide-Tedesco , one of Tone Poem giant Richard Strauss` favorite pupils and friend of Maurice Ravel and other 20th century composers such as Stravinsky (whose music he helped popularize). Since then, whether Improvising, listening, studying composition or devoting myself wholly to the visual arts for years at a time, I have been deeply aware that sharing my musical insights , teaching, and or mentoring young aficionados came with the territory!   I love it, although I am afraid that as my consciousness expands...that I know less and less each year! :-)  

The Tonal Oasis called SoundCloud is a fine and wondrous place in oh so many ways.  And with your support and appreciation, I de-Light to share my music with an ever widening audience. I call what i upload ' Sound-Seeds'.  Most of these 'bed tracks' call out to be fleshed out by passionate soloists who somehow Resonate with my Soundz and Ideas.  So please drop me a line, as i am most interested in letting them bear more fruit through collaboration, interpretation, re-mixing or use in other media.    

And on a personal Note, a Huge Thank-You to each and all who listen, inJoy, and Re-Post onwards what finds it's way thru me! :) Bless y'all.
