Michel Bénébig was born in New Calédonia  ( South-Pacific ) on June 27/1964.
He started playing bass, accordéon and électronic-organ ( Farfisa ) at 11 in differents dancing-bands all around New Calédonia..
Michel started to learn piano and music-theory at 16 at the  E.T.M  ( Ecole Territoriale de Musique de Nouméa ), he obtained the “Golden Médal” certificat on Piano in 1988 .
From 1990 to 1992  Michel studied in high level of classical-piano training in France  at the ‘National Conservatory of Music of Besançon’.
In june 1992, Michel switched from Classical Piano to Jazz-Organ ( Hammond B3 Organ ). Michel bought hundreds of CDs of Jazz organ Masters like; Jimmy Smith, Jack Mc Duff, Jimmy Mc Griff, Lonnie Smith, Sheirley Scott, Richard “ Groove “ Holmes, Don Paterson, Rhoda Scott, Charles Earland, Johnny Hammond Smith, Eddy Louiss etc... and as a self taught musician, Michel learnt the Blues & Jazz organ technics, spending hours and hours of practicing the pedals ...
At this time, Michel is a piano teacher at the “ E.T.M “ ( Ecole Territoriale de Musique de Nouméa ), he started teaching blues & Jazz organ technics from 2001 to 2004..
Michel had a grade-level teaching and performing exam in 2003, he obtained the “ D.E “ ( Diplome d’Etat / State Diploma ) on the Hammond Organ at the “ ETM “ now “ C.M.N.C “ ( Conservatoire de Musique de Nouvelle Calédonie ).
 Michel left the C.M.N.C in December 2006 to create an association called ‘AMJ-BECA’ ( Association des Musiciens de Jazz & Blues pour les Echanges et la Création Artistique ).The AMJ-BECA produce concerts, tours, ‘master-class’ etc… all around New Caledonia and overseas ….
Michel is performing everywhere in New Calédonia , overseas : Australia ( Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmania ), New-Zealand ( Auckland, Wellington, Napier, Nelson, Christchurch, Invercargil etc.. ), Fiji ( Suva ), Vanuatu ( Vila ),  Florida USA ( Orlando ) & California USA ( Los Angeles & San-Francisco ), Ile de la Réunion ( Indian Océan ), France ( Paris, Nice, Marseille etc.. )
Michel is now recognized as one of the leading Soul-Jazz-organist around the world..
Michel was elected the “Organist of the Month” of may 2006 by “ The International Archives for the Jazz-Organ “ ( http://www.iajo.org ) , and received a certificat – diploma.

Michel mett and played with  Jazz Organists like :
Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Mc Griff, Larry Goldings, Rhoda Scott, Tony Monaco , Duke Jethro, Dave Matthiew, Eddy Crocetti , Stefan Patry, Cole Nolan,Tim Neal, Cameron Scott, Darren Heinrich ...
Michel also performed with International musicians like:
Bruce Forman, Lewis Nash,  Frank Potenza, Paul Kreibich, Carl Lockett, James Levi, Akira Tana, Denise Perrier, Nick Haywood,  Joel Taylor, Randy Jonhston, Doug Webb, George Coleman Jr , Andrew Dickeson , Roger Manins , Pete France, Rodger Fox , Dixon Nacey, Vaughn Roberts , Ron Samsom , Anthony Hopkins, Tom Mawi , Adam Simmons , Cameron Allen , Anthony Baker, Mike Jordan, Phil Collings, Matt Kirsch, Edward York, Brendan O’Reilly, Paul Williamson, Creag Beard, Eugene Ball, Ronnie Ferrella , Peter Knight, Roger Sellers, Bob Bertles,  and many more...

Souljazz (as "jazz" as it's commonly percieved has become almost too "serious")Funk/Nùfunk, Swing-blues, R&B, Brazil and almost any jazz derivate..
Ot top of what above, I have a special "soul liason" with some late '60s early '70s music,  one reference for all: 
Leon Russell,
 but also Hendrix, the early "Chicago transit Authority", and likes such as James Booker and "subsequent" New Orleans heritage...  Got the idea?

Présentation:
Avant tout, l’univers musical de cet 'opus' est empreint des couleurs multiples de la Nouvelle Calédonie, toutes les chansons sont interprétées en Français, a l'exception de 'KUIC' (en 'Némi' ). 
L'album a été enregistré à Auckland (Nouvelle Zélande) en octobre 2016 aux studios 'Roundhead Studios New Zealand', pour ce qui est du 'Mix & Master'', 
il a été effectué dans les studios 'Showplace Studios' à New York (New Jersey) USA en avril 2017 par le merveilleux ingénieur son Ben Elliott. 
L’impression et la sortie 'physique' de l'album a été réalisé à Nouméa en juillet 2018 chez 'ON AIR prod'. 
 
'SHEM' la seule chanteuse Néo-Calédonienne (née à Koumac) de Soul-Blues-Funk-Rock & Jazz a s’être forgé forgée une solide réputation en Australie et Nouvelle Zélande sans oublier la Californie ( San Francisco et Los Angeles ) dans le milieu du Jazz et de la Soul music..
 
‘SHEM’ sur cet enregistrement c'est entouré de  musiciens  ayant une longue carrière et originaires de différents pays pour réaliser ce projet, à commencer par le guitariste Américain de San Francisco Carl LOCKETT 
(ex-guitariste d'Etta James, des Temptations, Des Platters, de Jimmy Smith et Jimmy Mc Griff, de Chuck Mangione, de Randy Crawford et bien d'autres grandes stars de la pop, du Gospel, de la Soul, de la Motown, du Blues et du Jazz.....), 
du saxophoniste et compositeur/arrangeur Néo-Zélandais Roger MANINS (de l’Université d’Auckland), du batteur, compositeur/arrangeur Canadien de Toronto installé en Nouvelle Zélande depuis 15 ans, 
(direction du département de musique contemporaine de l’Université d’Auckland) Ron SAMSOM, et pour finir de moi même (Michel BENEBIG a l'orgue Hammond). 
 
Cet album est une auto production, le fruit d’années de travail avec ces artistes internationaux, SHEM à travers ses chansons aux couleurs de son pays a souhaité 'ouvrir' vers une “orchestration et vision internationale”. 
 
L'album a été envoyé dans différentes Radios, Critiques etc en France, Nouvelle Zélande, Australie, et USA...
 
Un album aux influences Blues, Latin, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Kaneka .....
