This song is a rollercoaster ride of emotions as a tribute song to my grandfather who inspired me to be a musician. A big shout out and thanks to J.J. Terrell for your wonderful piano and organ, and to Stephen for all the work you did on guitar and in the studio mixing and mastering this wonderful ballad. 
I forced myself to step out of my comfort zone on this track because I knew I would've regretted it if I didn't. Going through a bunch of my grandpa's stuff a few years ago, and I got his guitar as well as his hat. When I got home I wrote this song. Miss you Grandpa, and I hope that you somehow hear the song and are proud.

Here is a song (an old-fashioned ballad) composed and recorded in 1998. I didn't feel the need to add anything, except for the vocals in places where it was too low in volume. The song journay now is over, I hope: from the Korg to a CD, from the CD to a tape, from the tape to the PC, from the PC to SC.

Because of the bad English translation, I add something about the story the song tells (that in part was inspired by a short fable I published only in 2003). Martina is a servant of a rich man; she is a poor, widowed woman, the dreamer and deceived mistress of a no-good sailor who is now in prison for stealing everything she had.

This marks the fourth collaboration with my SoundCloud friend, Seashea. I truly respect him, and I really love his guitar work. We especially have a great connection when it comes to ambient music. When I heard he was going on a journey for a while, we decided to create this track together. I’m deeply moved that our shared understanding across the ocean has come together in this form. For this artwork, I used a photo taken by him at the beach.
I’d like to present this track in celebration of Seashea and his wife’s wonderful journey.

"The 21st century will be spiritual or it will not be" ... said André Malraux.

Spiritual, yes, perhaps, but in what form? The one dictated by politicians under orders, assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI), then it is certain that it will not be.

The general madness engendered by an organized dehumanization is taking over us like gangrene, a lack of love, peace and respect for all human beings, whoever they may be. It is appalling, dramatic and our end could be terrible if we continue on this path to perdition. It is high time to grow one's Soul and Spirit to put them at the service of the common good of our humanity in all its diversity.

Some even think of imposing a third world war on us to raze everything and start over with another civilization project, but we build nothing good, nothing solid on ashes, even less a utopian project thought up by the powerful financiers, a too beautiful mirror to the larks made of Lies and Betrayal to put, this time again, the human in slavery but in a much more terrifying and virulent way.

The future civilization, because there will be one, will be entirely subject to the despotic regime of an entity formatted by enlightened humans who want to hoist themselves on the pedestal of the Gods, but it is a pious wish cradled in advance by illusions.

Putting humans in slavery of thought, depriving them of all their rights as human citizens will be, in the long term, fateful for them, this has been true since the dawn of humanity.
Once their goal is achieved, if they succeed, it will make them totally slaves of a powerful "Octetic Artificial Intelligence" which, with its acquired free thought, will exterminate them in turn, and yes, there will be no paradise on earth, neither for us and even less for them, that's how it is, unless the people wake up in time 🙂 but it will be to fight against machines... does that remind you of anything? -

Ok. Scribe just got a little make over. Name changed to Melanin. Since I was trying to sing about rascism... I just realised it should be more straight forward to see that. So hence the new name. In fact, I've decided to completely remake it and I'll put it on this years album.

This song explorers the scourge of racism on Earth. Different amounts of melanin in our skin is really the only difference which builds human skin colour tone! So this 'lights a torch' for the 'other shades, the hues'. People of different colour skin to me! We're all the furking same.

The Magic slur is when Magic Johnston had to deal with a bigoted NBA team owner.
The good Dani let's eat... Dani Alves the footballer, picked up and ate a banana that was thrown from the stands in Barcelona's Nou Camp Stadium... This is the mercury mould. The racist gesture from that fan who threw that banana is meant to suggest some humans were monkeys on the pitch. Dani Alves stood up and was counted for that moment. Hopefully the person who threw it took on board what he did and changed... 

Apparently the amount of melanin changes over long periods of time in our skin depending how long our descendants have stayed in those locales with different amounts of light getting there and onto their skin... In turn evolving with those environmental conditions. That's it! Apart from that we all eat, drink, shit, piss, eat and so on... If we're lucky

Now that I think about it. It surprises me that I haven't heard this done before. (I'd love to be wrong 🔗 ?) Singing about the only scientific difference that gifts us with different tones of skin. How much melanin in you? Drill it into the kids!

Hello! I’m a university professor of history who enjoys playing guitar and piano/keyboard, and occasionally composing — unpretentiously, just for fun.
Most of my recordings (made with a KorgD8, Audacity, and more recently Reaper for MIDI and the Spitfire Audio libraries) are entirely homemade and decidedly imperfect.
My music includes old songs (all written back in the last century; here I’ve only shared the ones I’ve reworked in recent years) as well as both old and new instrumentals — usually in several versions, some of which eventually disappear because they’re simply unlistenable.

Thanks for stopping by and giving something a listen; in the description you’ll often find explanatory notes or translations of the lyrics.
Here I’ve discovered a community of talented musicians and songwriters, and plenty of beautiful music to enjoy. Whenever I like, comment, or repost a track, it’s always the result of attentive listening. For the same reason, I’m not interested in trading empty “likes” without real engagement, and I won’t reply to messages from would-be promoters — follower counts don’t matter to me in the slightest.
