Even though people tend to remember fewer details about past events as time goes by, the details they do remember are retained with remarkable fidelity.

The moon is one of those indelible memories; for centuries humankind has been fascinated by space travel and visiting other planets.

“Memories Of Past Age” transforms the years of the space race into thunderous melody with a solid broken beat and gritty analog sound, reworked by the visionaries Sept and Insolate who emphasize its adrenaline and power.

“Smoke and Flames” a hustle and bustle pattern, signal the opening of a historic journey as the rocket clears the launch pad.

“Moon Landing” the arrival of the spacecraft on the Moon surface, hypnotic pulsing rhythms & basses merged with astral drones.

Following a previous outing on Rekids Special Projects with ‘Austral Frames’, as well as releases on Nina Kraviz’s Trip, UNCAGE, and Suara, the Existentia boss returns to Radio Slave’s techno-focussed imprint with four hard-hitting tracks across ‘Move Around EP’.

Lead track ‘Move Around’ bursts with character as energetic and crunchy drum work, booming low end, and tripped out vocal chops combine for a heavy-duty warehouse smasher. ‘Black Out’ sees the producer opt for a comparatively restrained approach, focussing on a handful of razor-sharp and deeply effective elements for a rattling, groove led techno jam.

‘Alloy Steel’ conjures up textured atmospherics and dense FX as tumbling kicks, metallic stabs, and crisp hats punch through the mix, before ‘Sinergy’ winds the energy down with doses of hypnotic synthesis and syncopated kick patterns, bringing the release to a woozy close.

Opening the show is our resident Betty Bloop.

Our first guest is DJ, producer, promoter and label boss of South Wales based Modular Trax, K-Netic.

I first met this man at Hanger 19 in Swansea, after he’d finished his set at techno club night The Resistance.

K-Netic played tracks not familiar to me, but the South Wales technoheads soaked it up and loved every minute. 

During the evening I found out that all his tracks were in fact his own, and it was around this time I knew I’d have to invite him to play for you all. 

I’d found Modular Trax on Bandcamp a year or so ago whilst looking for tracks by my second guest (more on that later), so if you haven’t found it yet be sure to check it out!

My second guest this month, and back with a more refined European sound, is Robi S.U.S.S.!

I remember when I first met Robi, we talked a lot about techno (obvs) but more specifically what he was up to and what drives him here and now.

He told me he’s been working on a sound that I know will go down a storm with the listeners of untitled_techno, and after playing one of my favourite sets of the year a few weeks back on forward_thinking, it’s a pleasure to have Robi back on.

DISINTERGRATING

The second installment on Leipzig based Weisse Elster is devoted to the more abstract spheres of electronic dance music, exploring a rather dark terrain. The EP thus contains a total of five driving, club-focused tracks that actively invite the audience to join in on a fully untethered journey through space and time. Not until the last frequencies have faded away do they return to this-worldly realms.

The first four numbers of the release are Wice originals, encompassing a wide spectrum of techno music. Whilst differing in rhythm and tempo, the individual tracks are united by an unmistakable signature and an underlying mystical aura. A trippy and incredibly energetic remix by Peryl, who took Wice's Nolade and transformed it into a real dancefloor bomb, perfectly rounds off the overall concept.

Born in Zurich and grown up in Italy, he moved his first steps to the techno world in the late 90’s, taking inspiration from his idols Jeff Mills
and Dave Clarke.

His first appearances behind the console began from a young age. Do to his talent, he become very soon resident in some historic places in his province (Vicenza). His artistic career achieved his first major achievements in 2001 when he debuted with his first “Zool EP” vinyl on Underground Media Records by Mauro Picotto and landed at the legendary Italian techno club Matrix in Brescia, where he has been regular resident for five years.

Since 2005, Stephan has continued his musical growth by playing jn some of the best Italian techno clubs & festivals such as Nature Beat Festival, Shame Clubbing, Ex Dogana, The Room, Amnesia, Mantra, Electrique, Il Muretto, Alterego, Bolgia, Sonica Dance Festival, Mood Boom Festival, and recently abroad, Poland, Netherlands, Croatia, Spain, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland and Malta, in clubs like Sfinks700, MTW, Subclub, Depo Klub, Bollwerk, Sugar Factory, Space Monki, Trax Club.

Since 2013, he is resident in HYPER’s events in Italy (near Venice), which became the stage for international techno legends such as Dave Clarke, Speedy J, Ben Sims, Oscar Mulero, Surgeon, Slam, and many, many more:

The tracks of his latest EP “Runaway Giant” EP on Decoy, “Horsehead” on Black & White, and “Diving Echoes” on Amazing Records, were played and appreciated by Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Rebekah, Drumcomplex, Submerge and many more. His latest EPs has been released on SK Black (includes the hypnotic remixes of Xhei and ViL) on Naked Lunch, TMM by Vegim, District4 (with two remixes for Dj Emerson) and SMR (with remix for Israel Toledo & Lathan).

Italian’s techno icon, Stephan Krus’s sound includes not only years of experience as a DJ, but also 20 years as a techno lover and fan. His djset is a mix of old-school rhythmic, distorted and industrial rhythms, hypnotic synths and power-full kicks: a journey towards unexplored galaxies with an ever-turned look towards the farthest past.
