Our rebel talent from Ohio, throws down a funky techno live performance James Johnson Jr AKA Plural is one exceptionally talented electronic music producer, composer and DJ known across the world for his hard techno sound. His calm demeanour belies the massive amounts of energy he creates in his highly technical DJ sets, and the ethereal beauty of his live performances with many top-flight DJs swearing by his output, dropping his tracks relentlessly throughout their sets. He grew up in the 80’s listening mostly to soul, RnB and hip-hop. He knew he wanted to follow a musical path, but because he couldn’t rap or sing and was more interested in the beats he decided to become a DJ. His early inspiration came from amazing artists like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Herby Handcock and Public Enemy. after becoming a DJ and discovering so many more styles of music out there, especially techno, it was Jeff Mills, Claude Young, DJ Stingray and The Horrorist to name a few that held his awe.

The crystalline sound of Eloim is re-worked in this 3 tracks EP. 3 visions of cerebral techno which take us through different textures sometimes in the bed of a crystal river, with the Troma & Pers1’s remix - norman duo which already signed many elegant acid techno releases on Aquaregia. The aqueous quality of the sound can be find also in the Atomic Moog’s remix, which plays marvelously with the original elements and their metamorphic possibilities. Or other times in the power touch of b.mod which drills a tunnel in La Grande Montagna. 

Le son cristallin d’Eloim est ici retravaillé dans cet 3 titres, 3 visions d’une techno cérébrale qui nous emmène à travers différentes textures, tantôt dans le lit d’une rivière de cristal, avec le remix de Troma & PERS1 - duo normand qui a déjà composé de nombreuses tracks acid techno très élégantes chez Aquaregia. La qualité aqueuse du son peut aussi se déguster avec le remix d’Atomic Moog, qui joue merveilleusement avec les éléments originaux du morceau et leurs possibles métamorphiques. Finalement l’EP se termine avec la touche puissante de b.mod qui creuse un tunnel sous La Grande Montagna.

[NFRWD08] Eloim - 'Drama Remixes' EP w/ Troma & PERS1, Atomic Moog & b.mod Remixes

Born and raised in South Italy, in 2012 Jacom moved to Zurich, where along with Saime works side by side since day one on their project Adroit, a real techno movement that is causing and shaping the scene in Switzerland due to their extasic and extended Raves.

Jacom has already been a drummer before becoming a DJ. In 2018 he released his first track "Extroverse" on the first VA "Archive1" on his label Adroit Recordings where he came back last year with an amazing release called "Mind EP" including Remixes by his friends Kaiser and VSK.

In this set recorded for us Jacom serves up one hour and half of proper clinical hammering and nonstop rhythmic assault, mapping the confine of deep, hard to the bone techno through lamp and dim lit corridor of sound.

Mister Willis is an english dj. During his 12 years spent in Manchester enjoying nightlife and club culture from a young age, the city was a fantastic place by having some of the best parties, records shop, music institution in the Uk and being surrounded by many djs/producers that made him develop his hobby to a passion and started playing locally. Now based in Berlin for 3 years he is the resident of Rave Atlas parties held in Suicide Circus and occasionally have a takeover at Hoer Berlin a few times a year. Over lockdown he started ‘Gardens’ with budding DJ Sparkling Water Dreams, a platform to showcase their music, that maybe don’t always get opportunities to do so. 
However Black owls is happy to have him onboard by offering us the second part of this series of podcasts.

w_iro is a techno music producer from Poznań, Poland. He started his adventure with music from guitar instruments, playing in bands and jam sessions, but fate made the next step in his journey the world of analog-digital sound synthesis. 
Currently he is a co-creator of Psylocybina project which promotes psychedelic, deep and mystic shades of techno music (https://soundcloud.com/psylocybinapl) and Rave Order (https://www.instagram.com/raveorder/), an initiative bringing together techno/rave culture in Poland. 
His hobbies include technological innovations in the process of creating music and the very philosophy of the creative process in the modern world. He supports the idea of live acts and hybrid sets. To his credit, he has performed in Poznań clubs, Wrocław's Ciało club and at Underworld and Masow festivals, among others. Backspin's fifth release comes from Obscure Shape, delivering a deep and versatile techno EP that lives up to its title: 'Zwei Gesichter' (German for 'Two Faces'). Across five tracks, the EP explores the tension between raw force and emotional depth, marrying the label's Hardgroove roots with a more introspective edge.
The A-side presents Obscure Shape's first face: It opens with 'Zwei Seiten', a no-frills banger that hits with immediacy and drive. 'Im Angesicht Der Zeit', the single, leans into groove and movement, offering a more fluid, time-aware flow. 'Die Haut In Der Ich Wohne' pares things back into a minimalistic, looping hypnosis, evoking the idea of inhabiting one's own skin. On the B-side, presenting the producer's second face, 'Spuren Des Werdens' features producer AMIYE and introduces more melody and saw synths, a reflection on growth and transformation. The closer, 'Von Hoffnung Getragen' – also a collaboration with AMIYE – lifts off with ethereal vocals and a bouncing rhythm, embodying the hope that carries us forward.
With the 'Zwei Gesichter' EP, Obscure Shape crafts a powerful narrative through groove, form and feeling perfectly aligned with Backspin's evolving reinterpretation of early 2000s techno.
